Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a progressive kidney disorder that develops as a complication of diabetes due to long-term exposure to elevated blood glucose levels (BGLs). In this case, an intervention of therapeutic moieties is needed to target the specific elements involved in diabetes to prevent/delay the deterioration of kidney function. Therefore, the present study focused on designing and evaluating a potent nano-formulation of a combination of C-peptide (CPep) and the anti-diabetic drug lisofylline (LSF) to prevent streptozotocin (STZ)-induced DN.

Therapeutic agents for targeting desmoplasia: current status and emerging trends.

Desmoplasia is a major barrier to chemotherapy in several cancers, particularly pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and breast cancer. Tumors comprise of cellular and noncellular components and chemoresistant cancer stem cells (CSCs) with established signaling pathways. In this review, we discuss drugs, such as pentoxifylline, aspirin, and metformin, that have been repurposed and investigated for their antidesmoplastic activity in combination with antitumor drugs.

Psoriasis is a common immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. It includes multifaceted interaction between the immune system and the keratinocytes. Recent studies depicted the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in hyperproliferation of keratinocytes and inflammatory cytokine production, which serve as biomarkers for diagnosis, monitoring treatment response, and prognosis.
