Combating melanoma via topical route is a highly challenging task due to low selectivity, poor efficacy and impeding biological environment of the skin. In the present study, we engineered a chitosan based pH responsive biodegradable nanogel (FCNGL), encapsulated with 5-FU that was effective even at very low drug doses (0.2% w/v) against melanoma.

A library of novel regioselective 1,4-di and 1,4,5-trisubstituted-1,2,3-triazole based benzothiazole-piperazine conjugates were designed and synthesized using the click synthesis approach in the presence and absence of the Cu(I) catalyst. One-pot facile and mild construction of densely functionalized pyrimidines in water consecutive C-C and C-S bonds formation.

Fused pyrimidines composed of alternating heteroatoms and a pyrimidine moiety were synthesized efficiently using readily available starting material 4-hydroxycoumarin, aromatic aldehydes, and urea/thiourea at room temperature. Acid, metal salts, and surfactants were screened for their influence on catalytic activity in three-component reactions and sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) was used as the best catalyst with different concentrations. Screening results of catalyst loading from our investigation showed that good to excellent yields were obtained with 10 mol%.

Bacterial diversity in rhizosphere of L. (kodo millet) is revealed with shotgun metagenome sequencing and data analysis.

Rhizosphere bacterial communities of kodo millet plant was analyzed from a large metagenome sequence dataset. Plant rhizosphere samples of kodo millet was collected in replicates and the metagenomic sequence data were obtained through shotgun sequencing. Overall sequences in the dataset were 476,649 comprising total read length of 179,349,372 base pairs.

Solvent Effect on the Potential Energy Surfaces of the F + CHCHBr Reaction.

Although substantial work has been undertaken on reaction pathways involved in base-promoted elimination reactions and bimolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction of F on CHCHX (X = Cl, Br, I), the effect of solvents with varying dielectric constants on the stereochemistry of each of the reaction species involved across the reaction profile have not yet been clearly understood. The present investigation reports the effect of solvents on the potential energy surfaces (PES) and structures of the species appearing in the reaction pathway of F with bromoethane. The PESs in the gas phase have been computed at MP2 level and CCSD(T) level.

Electro-Physiology of Coupling Model and Its Impact on Naja Kaouthia Venom Treated Sciatic Nerves of Toad.

Demyelination in peripheral nerves causes dysfunction of slowing down and stoppage of nerve impulses causing many neurological diseases, such as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, Guillain-Barre syndrome, etc. This paper aims to develop a recovery model having interaction of a demyelinated nerve with a normal myelinated nerve. We validated the model by coupling between peripheral nerve of toad (demyelinated with Naja kaouthia venom) and a normal nerve of toad.

All-optical tunable power splitter based on a surface plasmonic two-mode interference waveguide.

In this paper, we have introduced a surface plasmonic two-mode interference (SPTMI) coupler having a silicon core, GaAsInP side cladding, and silver top and bottom cladding as an optical power splitter. A wide range of tunability from the 50∶50 splitting ratio to 1∶99 is achieved by refractive index modulation of the GaAsInP cladding with application of varying optical pulse power. The coupling length of the SPTMI-based splitter is ∼11.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of end-stage kidney disease, and the current pharmacological treatment for DKD is limited to renin-angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitors. Adenosine is detectable in the kidney and is significantly elevated in response to cellular damage. While all 4 known subtypes of adenosine receptors, namely, AAR, AAR, AAR, and AAR, are expressed in the kidney, our previous study has demonstrated that a novel, orally active, species-independent, and selective AAR antagonist, LJ-1888, ameliorates unilateral ureteral obstruction-induced tubulointerstitial fibrosis.

Isolated Epitrochlear Filarial Lymphadenopathy: Cytomorphological Diagnosis of an Unusual Presentation.

Filariasis is a major public health problem in tropical countries like India. Despite the large number of people at risk, detection of eggs with or without larva (microfilaria) on fine-needle aspiration cytology is very unusual, especially in an uncommon site or incidentally detected in clinically unsuspected cases of filariasis with the absence of microfilariae in the peripheral blood. A 19-year-old male presented with swelling over medial aspect of left arm (just above the elbow), with no other specific signs and symptoms.
