Background: Psychological suffering is ubiquitous with cancer and frequently presents as an unmet supportive care need. In clinical practice, distress-related needs are often addressed by nurses and non-psychologist allied healthcare professionals who may have limited training in psychological therapeutic frameworks, particularly more recently developed interventions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Aims: We developed a single-day training programme for professionals working in supportive and palliative cancer care settings to change the nature of clinical communication about psychological distress and suffering towards an ACT-consistent approach.

Objectives: Oncology health professionals experience high levels of burnout and compassion fatigue, affecting their health and the care they provide. This study aimed to establish whether present-centered awareness and attention (a component of mindfulness) is uniquely associated with burnout and compassion fatigue in oncology professionals.

Methods: An international sample of oncology professionals ( = 118) completed an online questionnaire with validated measures of present-centered awareness and attention, empathy, compassion fatigue, and burnout.

Objective: Fatigue is a highly prevalent and debilitating problem in women with breast cancer. This study investigated the cognitive, behavioural, interpersonal and affective responses associated with fatigue and functional impairment for women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy. A nested prospective study examined factors predictive of cancer-related fatigue after three cycles of chemotherapy.
