Objective: Despite their effectiveness, cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs have low participation and adherence rates. CR participation and adherence are directly related to the social, economic, cultural, and geographical characteristics of the society. Therefore, our study aimed to investigate the reasons behind low participation in CR within Turkish society, as well as the barriers that restrict participation despite educational efforts.

Background: The available evidence on the impact of altitude training on sports performance is inconclusive. Heart rate variability (HRV) and heart rate recovery (HRR) are among the most frequently used parameters in athletic performance analysis and monitoring. Our study aims to investigate the effect of high altitude training on HRR and HRV, which are reliable predictors of athletic performance.

Objective: Individuals across all age groups may experience elevated blood pressure due to a combination of internal and environmental factors. Factors influencing arterial pressure include diet, stress, sleep patterns, and lifestyle. This study aims to investigate the susceptibility to high blood pressure among occupational groups working night shifts.

Coronary artery anomalies (CAAs) are rare, but they can cause serious consequences, complicate the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD), and hamper the ability of the physician to perform the correct intervention for patients with CAD. The widespread use of coronary computed tomography and angiography has shown that the incidence is higher than previously thought. CAAs can occur with various anatomical features.

Kounis syndrome is a rare type of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) that occurs as a result of an allergic or anaphylactic reaction. Kounis syndrome can be induced by various medications including antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, antihypertensive medications, corticosteroids, and antineoplastic medications. Additionally, cases of Kounis syndrome associated with lansoprazole and pantoprazole have been previously reported in the literature.

is considered a rare pathogen in infective endocarditis (IE). is a Gram-positive facultative anaerobic bacterium found in the environment and human flora. It is part of the microbiota of the skin and nasal mucosa of humans and has been increasingly reported as the etiologic agent of community-acquired and nosocomial diseases.

If a permanent pacemaker lead is misplaced in the left ventricle (LV), the lead may interfere with normal functioning of the heart leading various complications, including heart rhythm problems and blood clots. In our case, the LV lead that passed through the patent foramen ovale and was misplaced into the LV was detected in a 78-year-old patient who presented with embolic stroke. Thrombus regression was achieved with anticoagulation, and then the lead extraction was planned.

Background: Electrocardiographic parameters, such as P wave peak time (PWPT), P wave duration (PWD), and P wave amplitude in lead DI, have been utilized to assess left atrial anomalies linked to the development of atrial fibrillation (AF) in different cohort settings.

Objective: To compare electrocardiographic parameters, such as P waves, in predicting long-term AF risk in acute ischemic stroke cases.

Methods: The data of 231 consecutive acute ischemic stroke cases were retrospectively collected.

Intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL) is a rare and benign smooth muscle tumor that arises from intrauterine venules or the myometrium. We herein describe a 49-year-old woman with a history of myomectomy who developed abdominal pain. An intravascular mass with extension to the right atrium was detected in the inferior vena cava.

Background: There is a limited data about the one-year outcomes of patients diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Objectives: To assess one-year mortality of invasively managed patients with ACS and COVID-19 compared to ACS patients without COVID-19.

Methods: In our investigation, we defined the study time period as April 30 through September 1, 2020.

Whole blood viscosity (WBV) is considered as a reasonable proxy measure of blood flow, and it has been investigated in different cohort settings, including in patients with deep venous thrombosis, arterial thrombosis, acute stent thrombosis, and left ventricular apical thrombus formation following acute coronary syndrome. To determine the association between WBV and the presence of thrombus in the left atrium (LA) or left atrial appendage (LAA) in individuals who had transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). The clinical data from 262 consecutive patients who had TEE at our facility were included in this retrospective cohort study.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common preventable cause of stroke. Diagnosis of new AF is frequent after acute ischemic stroke (AIS). We aimed to evaluate the predictive value of the recently developed morphology-voltage-P-wave duration (MVP) ECG risk score for in-hospital and long-term AF diagnosis following AIS.

Objective: The prognostic effect of the mean serum D-dimer levels, which was calculated from the first five days of hospitalization of the patients, has not been elucidated. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of mean D-dimer level about in-hospital mortality in patients hospitalized due to coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection.

Methods: In this observational retrospective study, we examined the in-hospital prognostic value of mean D-dimer [D-dimerfirst day+D-dimerthird day+D-dimerfifth day)/3 on 240 consecutive adult patients with COVID-19.

The objective of the present research was to evaluate the possible association between the N-terminal pro-brain type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels and in-hospital mortality in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia patients who did not have pre-existing heart failure (HF). A total of 137 consecutive patients without pre-existing HF and hospitalized due to COVID-19 pneumonia were enrolled into the current research. The main outcome of the research was the in-hospital death.

Objective: The present study aimed to compare the value of D-dimer measured on the 3rd day of hospitalization with admission D-dimer level in predicting in-hospital mortality in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Method: In total, 231 patients with COVID-19 disease were included in the study. D-dimer levels were estimated using immunoturbidimetric assay with normal range of 0-500 μg/mL.

Background: In the current literature, there is a growing evidence that supports the significant role of inflammation in the progression of viral pneumonia, including patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the predictive value of C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR) for in-hospital mortality in patients with COVID-19.

Material And Methods: This retrospective study included the data of 275 consecutive COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized in a referral pandemic center.

Background: This study examined the possible association between the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and in-hospital mortality rates in cases with a high cardiovascular risk burden and hospitalized with the diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Material And Methods: This retrospective and cross-sectional study included 294 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in a tertiary referral pandemic center. The study cohort was grouped into tertiles based on the initial PNI values as T1, T2, and T3.

Introduction: In the present study, our aim was to ascertain the preoperative cardiac risk factors related to the in-hospital mortality in the elderly patients (aged over 65 years) who required preoperative cardiology consultation for hip fracture surgery.

Material And Methods: The present study was a retrospective, single-centre study, which enrolled consecutive elderly patients without heart failure scheduled for hip fracture surgery in our institution. In all patients, an anesthesiologist performed a detailed preoperative evaluation and decided the need for the cardiac consultation.
