Advances in multidetector CT (MDCT) scanners have increased the pace of development of advanced postprocessing applications, such as virtual endoscopy (VE), segmentation and volumetry, and computer-aided postprocessing methods. Availability of thin-section MDCT data sets of isotropic voxel resolution ensures accuracy in structure segmentation, which is an important initial prerequisite on which the results of such advanced postprocessing applications are based.
