Background: Primary closure of large ventral hernia is difficult and is usually complicated by postoperative mesh bulge, migration, and higher recurrence. Techniques like component separation and bridging mesh, transversus abdominus release, da Silva triple-layer repair, and peritoneal flap hernioplasty (PFH) are common treatment options.

Objective: To evaluate the early postoperative and long-term outcomes of PFH for large ventral hernias.

For the past 3-4 decades, the discovery of Sanger's method of pyrosequencing was the only method unparalleled till 2005 being employed as a method of whole genome sequencing (WGS). Following this, a revolutionary extensive parallel sequencing method, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), was engineered. NGS supported a substantial number of bases under a high throughput metagenomic interrogation.

Article Synopsis
  • * This study aimed to improve immunotherapy for UM by identifying specific tumor-reactive T cells in liver metastases using advanced methods like single-cell RNA sequencing and patient-derived xenograft models.
  • * The results showed that tumor-reactive T cells were found in both activated and exhausted groups, and insights gained can help enhance cell therapy approaches and identify useful markers for treatment.

Introduction: Totally extraperitoneal (TEP) and transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) repair are the principal techniques in laparoscopic hernia repair. Seroma formation and pain are frequent complications of moderate-large size laparoscopic direct inguinal hernia mesh repair. This study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of defect closure in moderate-large direct inguinal hernias and its effect on various outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the differences between brucella spondylodiscitis, an infectious condition, and Modic type I changes (MC1), a non-infectious condition, using hematological inflammatory indices (HII) as potential diagnostic tools.
  • A total of 35 patients with brucella spondylodiscitis and 37 with MC1 were analyzed, revealing that while the two groups were similar in various blood parameters, the brucella group had significantly lower pain duration, higher CRP and ESR levels, and lower platelet counts.
  • The research found that HII such as neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio showed no significant differences between the groups, suggesting that

Background: COVID-19 may become a seasonal disease. SARS-CoV-2 active circulation coupled with vaccination efforts has undoubtedly modified the virus dynamic. It is therefore important investigate SARS-CoV-2 dynamic in different groups of population following the course of spatiotemporal variance and immunization.

Background Most children infected with SARS-CoV-2 infection, are asymptomatic or develops mild to moderate symptoms. Few weeks later, few children develops delayed hyper inflammatory syndrome known as Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). Objective To describe various demographic features of children with Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.

Article Synopsis
  • Foreign body ingestion is frequently seen in children, especially those with intellectual disabilities and neurodevelopmental delays, which can lead to delays in treatment.
  • Most ingested foreign bodies typically pass through the digestive tract without causing harm, though a small number of cases may require surgical intervention.
  • The focus of treatment should be on reducing anxiety for both patients and their families while promoting a quick recovery so that patients can return to their home environment.

Background And Objective: Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) has been found to have some interesting association with vaccinations. This paper mainly focuses on exploring different associations between COVID-19 vaccination and GBS.

Methods: Electronic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane, and Embase were searched using MESH terms for case reports published till 1 August 2023 from which 70 case reports were documented involving 103 individuals from 23 different countries.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive subtype with the most unfavorable clinical outcomes, in part due to tumor heterogeneity, treatment resistance, and tumor relapse. The TNBC subtypes [basal-like 1 (BL1), basal-like 2 (BL2), mesenchymal (M), and luminal androgen receptor (LAR)] are biologically and clinically distinct entities that respond differently to local and systemic therapies. Therefore, we need to have a better understanding of cancer stemness relating to drug-resistant populations in the TNBC subtypes.

Purpose: Patients with metastatic uveal melanoma have limited therapeutic options and high mortality rate so new treatment options are needed.

Patients And Methods: We previously reported that patients treated with the PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab and the histone deacetylase inhibitor entinostat in the PEMDAC trial, experienced clinical benefits if their tumor originated from iris or was wildtype for tumor suppressor gene. Here we present the 2-year follow-up of the patients in the PEMDAC trial and identify additional factors that correlate with response or survival.

It is well-known that phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) promote crop growth and yield. The information regarding characterization of PSB isolated from agroforestry systems and their impact on wheat crops under field conditions is rarely known. In the present study, we aim to develop psychrotroph-based P biofertilizers, and for that, four PSB strains ( sp.

The Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 has caused more severe infections than its previous variants. We studied the host innate immune response to Delta, Alpha, and two earlier variants to map the evolution of the recent ones. Our biochemical and transcriptomic studies in human colon epithelial cell line Caco2 reveal that Alpha and Delta have progressively evolved over the ancestral variants by silencing the innate immune response, thereby limiting cytokine and chemokine production.

Objectives: Both radial and focused types of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) have been used in patients with plantar calcaneal spur (PCS). However, no study has yet addressed the comparative effects of these treatments on the condition. Considering radial and focused waves are different from each other, their effectiveness may also be different in clinical practice.
