Article Synopsis
  • This study analyzed the chemical composition and toxicity of methanolic extracts from three different Algerian propolis samples collected in Oum el Bouaghi, El Harrouch, and Collo regions.
  • Using GC-MS, researchers identified key compounds: MEPO had ferulic acid, MEPH contained pinostrobin chalcone, and MEPC was rich in 1-heptatriacotanol.
  • The toxicity tests with brine shrimp showed that all extracts were moderately toxic, with MEPC being the most toxic (LC of 201.61 µg/mL), but none were toxic at concentrations of 25 µg/mL or lower.
