Microsporidia are opportunistic intracellular parasites, generating serious pathology in individuals with a compromised immune system. Dendrimer peptides are promising vaccine candidates against the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). Several B-cell epitope (BT) dendrimers, harboring a major FMDV antigenic B-cell site in VP1 protein, are covalently linked to heterotypic T-cell epitopes from 3A and/or 3D proteins, and elicited consistent levels of neutralizing antibodies and IFN-γ-producing cells in pigs. A method to quantify the error probability at the Kirchhoff-law-Johnson-noise (KLJN) secure key exchange is introduced. The types of errors due to statistical inaccuracies in noise voltage measurements are classified and the error probability is calculated. The most interesting finding is that the error probability decays exponentially with the duration of the time window of single bit exchange.

Very small size proteoliposomes (VSSP) constitute a complex of very small size proteoliposomes that includes proteins, lipids, CpG and gangliosides tumor-associated that provides a potential target for cancer immunotherapy. This compound has been described to stimulate the humoral and cellular response, dendritic cells (DC) activation and differentiation of T-helper cells, specially, in immunocompromised patients with cancer status. As a part of their surveillance functions in the immune system, monocytes/macrophages secrete large amounts of the bactericidal enzyme lysozyme to the extracellular medium. We report here that lysozyme secretion in activated U937 promonocytes depends on a functional calcium-independent phospholipase A(2) (iPLA(2)). Inhibition of the enzyme by bromoenol lactone or by treatment with a specific antisense oligonucleotide results in a diminished capacity of the cells to secrete lysozyme to the extracellular medium.
