Different studies have already shown that the isolated inactivation of p21, p16, or p27 cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CKIs) is associated with increased growth fraction, tumor progression, or decreased overall survival in cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. In this study we linked molecular study of the p53 and p16 genes with immunohistochemical analysis of p27 expression in a group of aggressive B-cell lymphomas [large B-cell lymphomas (LBCLs) and Burkitt's lymphomas]. This was done to analyze the relationship between p53 and p16 silencing, p27 anomalous overexpression, and clinical follow-up, testing the hypothesis that the accumulation of CKI alterations could confer to the tumors a higher aggressivity.

In the course of a review of a series of primary cutaneous lymphoma from different Spanish hospitals, we collected a series of 18 cases of primary cutaneous follicular lymphoma and analyzed its clinical, morphologic, and biologic characteristics. In this review only cases with a follicular pattern of growth, germinal center cytology, and restriction to the skin in a minimum follow-up of 6 months have been included.

This work investigates the elongational flow of aqueous solutions of mixtures of a high-molecular-weight poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The formation of micellar aggregates of SDS along the PEO chain results in an increase in the strength of the extension thickening of the PEO solutions. This is especially pronounced under conditions in which the PEO molecules form transient entanglements in the flow field.

In the present work, the validation of a monoclonal antibody-based enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) to determine this compound in fruits and vegetables is described. The immunoassay is a competitive heterologous ELISA in the antibody-coated format, with an I(50) value for standards in buffer of 740 ng/L and with a dynamic range between 200 and 3100 ng/L.

Although this is a commonly observed cell population, which has even given its name to a type of lymphoma, MBC lymphoma, scarcely any information is available about the function and characteristics of this cell type. A relationship with marginal zone (MZ) B lymphocytes has been claimed for MBCs, but this has not yet been fully proven.

Differential scanning calorimetry and freeze-thawing studies were used to optimize the lyophilization process. These studies showed that all samples were totally frozen at -45 degrees C and evidenced the necessity of adding sucrose, glucose, trehalose or gelatine to preserve the properties of NP regardless of the freezing procedure.

We have used this technique in haemophilic patients previously and reported our results on 13 cases [1]. Two hundred and fifty milligrams of rifampicine was injected into the elbow and ankle joints and 500 mg was injected into knee joints with 3-10 mL of lidocaine, depending on the joint size.

We report a case of chronic anisakiasis with multiple gastrointestinal manifestations presenting as a palpable mesenteric mass, diagnosed by specific serology and histologic findings. We describe the computed tomographic appearance of this mass and the pathologic correlations.

Measurements have been made of the rate of removal of a solid organic film (phenanthrene) from the surface of a rotating disk using emulsions containing water, the nonionic surfactant Tween 20, and d-limonene as the organic phase. The results show that phenanthrene removal initially occurs by the uptake of phenanthrene into the emulsion drops as small aggregates. Simultaneously, the organic phase penetrates into the phenanthrene film, diminishing the adhesive force between the film and the substrate.

This species is adapted to highly saline waters, and the Na/K-ATPase alpha 1 isoform presumably plays a key role in this adaptation. Therefore, we were interested in further study of the alpha 1 Na/K-ATPase polymorphisms to examine whether they might be due to an adaptation to salt resistance driven by natural selection.

Loss of p16 expression is found frequently in human cancer tissues, often resulting from allelic loss or promoter region hypermethylation in non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. Hodgkin's disease has been shown to be a monoclonal neoplasm of B-cells in which a majority of cells are cycling.

Right ventricular infarction usually occurs in association with inferior infarction, with no remarkable electrocardiographic signs in conventional leads. This report describes a patient with a previous inferior acute myocardial infarction who developed right ventricular infarction with significant anterior lead ST segment elevation (V1-V4) caused by the loss of two large right ventricular branches during a coronary angioplasty of the right coronary artery. The case is discussed and the literature is reviewed.

Because thermal treatment may modify factor VIII bioavailability, the pharmacokinetic parameters and the acute tolerance of the single viral inactivated concentrate (preparation A) were compared with that of the double viral inactivated one (preparation B). Fifteen patients with severe haemophilia A and positive for HAV Ab were enrolled in a double-blind cross-over study and injected with 32.

Our aim was to determine the value of CD44v6 expression in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and to look for possible associations between CD44v6 expression and activity of this disease.
Methods And Results: CD44v6 expression was studied using immunohistochemical techniques in 100 surgical and endoscopic colon samples of ulcerative colitis (n = 71) and Crohn's disease (n = 29), and in every case disease activity was studied by endoscopy and microscopic examination.
Cell cycle progression is regulated by the combined action of cyclins, cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), and CDK-inhibitors (CDKi), which are negative cell cycle regulators. p27KIP1 is a CDKi key in cell cycle regulation, whose degradation is required for G1/S transition. In spite of the absence of p27KIP1 expression in proliferating lymphocytes, some aggressive B-cell lymphomas have been reported to show an anomalous p27KIP1 staining.
