Objective: This work shows the molecular analysis of patients diagnosed with FCS, who attended the Spanish Arteriosclerosis Society lipid units and were included in the National Dyslipidemia Registry.
Methods: Among the 238 patients registered with severe hypertriglyceridemia (fasting triglycerides >1000 mg/dL), 26 were diagnosed with FCS as they had confirmed postheparin plasma LPL activity deficiency and/or homozygosity for loss-of-function mutations in LPL, GPIHBP1, APOC2, LMF1, or Apolipoprotein A5 (APOA5).

Regulatory agencies have requested real-world data on drug utilization and safety, a postauthorization safety study, of a pharmaceutical-grade caffeine citrate, Peyona, to confirm its benefit for preterm infants.
Objectives: To investigate the clinical use, outcomes, and safety profile of this pharmaceutical-grade caffeine citrate in the routine treatment of preterm infants with a gestational age (GA) <37 weeks.
Aims: The goal of the study was to compare preductal SpO2 in the first 10 min after birth in preterm infants treated with non-invasive continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and air with a published nomogram of preductal SpO2 in preterm infants who received no medical intervention, and to examine gender differences.

Subisolates segregated from an M-type Plum pox virus (PPV) isolate, PPV-PS, differ widely in pathogenicity despite their high degree of sequence similarity. A single amino acid substitution, K109E, in the helper component proteinase (HCPro) protein of PPV caused a significant enhancement of symptom severity in herbaceous hosts, and notably modified virus infectivity in peach seedlings. The presence of this substitution in certain subisolates that induced mild symptoms in herbaceous hosts and did not infect peach seedlings suggested the existence of uncharacterized attenuating factors in these subisolates.

Analysis in Western blots of the reactivity of 24 MAbs to a 112-amino-acid N-terminal fragment of the PPV coat protein (CP) expressed in Escherichia coli showed that 21 of the 24 MAbs recognized linear or denaturation-insensitive epitopes. Diffuse neonatal haemangiomatosis (DNH) is an uncommon condition characterized by multiple cutaneous and visceral haemangiomas frequently causing severe complications. Corticosteroids constitute the first therapeutic line; however, when they fail, other alternatives are available, provided possible side effects are closely monitored during and after treatment. Patients And Methods: This is a two year retrospective study which compared biochemical markers of liver damage and cholestasis in premature babies who received or did not receive urso-deoxycholic acid for parenteral nutrition associated cholestasis.
Results: Of a total of 24 recruited patients 17 received urso-deoxycholic acid and 7 did not.
Background: Preterm infants endowed with an immature antioxidant defense system are prone to oxidative stress. Hydroxyl radicals are very aggressive reactive oxygen species that lack specific antioxidants. These radicals cannot be measured directly, but oxidation byproducts of DNA or phenylalanine in urine are reliable markers of their activity.
