Background: Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy (TCM) has been known for decades as a reversible form of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy. However, its mechanism and characteristics remain poorly understood.
Objectives: This retrospective study investigated endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) samples from consecutive patients with TCM and compared them with samples from patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and inflammatory cardiomyopathy (InCM).
Background: The objective of this study was to identify prognostic indicators in patients with inflammatory cardiomyopathy (iCM) on endomyocardial biopsy (EMB).
Methods And Results: Between 2007 and 2011 all consecutive patients with diagnosed with iCM at EMB were retrospectively analyzed. The combined primary endpoint (EP) (1°EP) was cardiac death, aborted sudden cardiac death/appropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shock, progressive heart failure requiring left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation and heart transplantation.
Background: Endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) is an important tool when patients with inflammatoric cardiomyopathy (DCMi) are evaluated. We aimed to assess the clinical profile of elderly patients with DCMi on EMB.
Methods: Retrospective study of all consecutive patients hospitalized from January 2007 to December 2011 with clinical suspicion of DCMi undergoing EMB.
Aim: To determine whether the TKTL1 protein epitope detection in monocytes (EDIM) test allows detection of upregulated glucose metabolism in malignancies.
Materials & Methods: The EDIM-TKTL1 blood test was conducted in 240 patients with 17 different confirmed or suspected malignancies. Test scores were compared with (18)F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG)-PET/computed tomography (CT) results.
