This observational study aimed to evaluate serum potassium levels as an independent prognostic factor for unplanned enteral nutrition discontinuation in older adults with GERD.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 213 consecutive patients with GERD who received enteral nutrition at our institution from April 2018 to March 2023.
The quadrupole moment of a non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) generated by the constituent electron donor (D) and acceptor (A) units is a significant factor that affects the charge separation (CS) and charge recombination (CR) processes in organic photovoltaics (OPVs). However, its impact on p-type polymer domains remains unclear. In this study, we synthesized p-type molecules, namely acceptor-donor-acceptor (ADA) and donor-acceptor-donor (DAD), which are components of the benchmark PM6 polymer (D: benzodithiophene and A: dioxobenzodithiophene).

However, the short-step and enantioselective synthesis of figure-eight π-systems represents a considerable challenge for the conventional bottom-up synthetic strategy. Herein, we report that the oxidative cleavage of the internal double bond of a commercially available polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, i.

Here we report the synthesis and properties of a h-CBN-type molecule (1) having a bicyclic BN-heteropentalene core fused with extended aromatic rings. This molecule exhibits excellent chemical stability despite the absence of bulky substituents for kinetic protection, which in turn provides effective stacking of the π-system upon crystallization.

The obtained -chiral polymers form amorphous thin films on HOPG and exhibit good chirality-induced spin selectivity with spin polarization of nearly 70%.

Here, we demonstrate that the internal 'biaxial strain' in tri-layered fluorite oxychloride photocatalysts can regulate bond formation and cleavage without redox processes. We achieve this by synthesizing the isovalent solid solution Bi Sb YOCl, which undergoes a structural phase transition from the ideal BiYOCl structure to the SbYOCl structure with (Bi,Sb)O rings.

However, the development of a molecular design to achieve a small level of E in the solid state continues to lag behind. Here, to investigate the relationship between aggregation and E, star-shaped π-conjugated compounds DBC-RD and TPE-RD were developed using dibenzo[g,p]chrysene (DBC) and tetraphenylethylene (TPE).

Apart from its photoactive one-dimensional (1D) (-Pb-S-) chain, is also composed of another 1D (-Pb-O-) chain that originates from the coordination with acetate. The coordinated acetate can be exchanged with water (HO) or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), leading to the formation of a or structure that exhibits a distinct change in optical properties, including a white-to-yellow color change.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 1240 patients who underwent lobectomy or segmentectomy for small and radiologically solid-dominant cN0 NSCLC between January 2010 and December 2022. The inclusion criteria encompassed centrally located tumors, defined as tumors located in the inner two-thirds of the pulmonary parenchyma.
This article reports a purely experiment-based method to evaluate the time-dependent charge carrier mobilities in thin-film organic solar cells (OSCs) using simultaneous charge extraction by linearly increasing the voltage (CELIV) and time-resolved microwave conductivity (TRMC) measurements. This method enables the separate measurement of electron mobility (μ) and hole mobility (μ) in a metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) device. A slope-injection-restoration voltage profile for MIS-CELIV is also proposed to accurately determine the charge densities.

However, the development of a colorless NIR dye remains a challenge due to the lack of a rational molecular design for controlling electronic transitions. In this study, to suppress the π-π* transitions in the visible region, polycyclic donor-acceptor-donor π-conjugated molecules with boron bridges (Py-FNTz-B and IP-FNTz-B) are designed and synthesized, which contain pyrrole or indenopyrrole as donor units with fluorinated naphthobisthiadiazole (FNTz) as an acceptor unit.

In this work, a cocatalyst was loaded onto an oxyfluoride photocatalyst, PbTiOF, to improve the water oxidation activity. Among the metal oxides examined as cocatalysts, RuO was found to be the most suitable, and the O evolution activity depended on the preparation conditions for Ru/PbTiOF.

In this study, we synthesized and characterized two polymorphs of a two-dimensional (2D) Pb(II) S-CP with a formula of [Pb(tzdt)(OAc)] (Htzdt=1,3-thiazolidine-2-thione, OAc=acetate). Our findings revealed that the thermodynamic product (KGF-26) possesses quasi-2D (-Pb-S-) layers with weak nonbonded Pb-S bonds, whereas the kinetic product (KGF-27) has intrinsic 2D (-Pb-S-) layers with Pb-S bonds.

Although organic dyes are promising candidates as metal-free photosensitizers in dye-sensitized photocatalysts, their efficiency in H2 production has far been unsatisfactory compared to that of metal-complex photosensitizers, such as Ru(II) tris-diimine-type complexes. Here, we demonstrate the substantial improvement of carbazole-thiophene-based dyes used for dye-sensitized photocatalysts through systematic molecular design of the number of thiophene rings, substituents in the thiophene moiety, and the anchoring group.
