Background: The unique analgesic properties of dexmedetomidine have led anesthesiologists to use it as an alternative to relieve pain after major surgeries.

Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the effect of continuous injection of thoracic epidural dexmedetomidine on analgesia after thoracotomy.

Methods: In this randomized, double-blind clinical trial, 46 patients (18 to 70 years old) who were candidates for thoracotomy surgery were randomly assigned to receive ropivacaine alone or combined with dexmedetomidine after epidural anesthesia as postoperative epidural anesthesia.

Background: Studies have shown that N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMIDA) plays an essential role in postoperative pain. It seems that use of NMDA receptor antagonists such as Dextromethorphan intensifies the analgesic effects of opioids.

Objectives: In this study, we evaluated the effect of preoperative administration of Dextromethorphan on postoperative pain reduction.

Background: Several methods for assessment of severity of pain have been proposed but all of them are subjective.

Objectives: This study evaluated the association concerning changes in electrical resistance (ER) between two acupuncture points and severity of postoperative pain in order to define an objective measurement of pain.

Patients And Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 50 patients undergoing lower extremity orthopedic surgery with postoperative moderate to severe pain (VAS > 4,) were consecutively enrolled.

Background: Opioid analgesics are commonly added to epidural local anesthetics to improve analgesia during surgery.

Objectives: The goal of this study was to evaluate the maternal and neonatal effects of adding different doses of tramadol to 2% lidocaine in the epidural anesthesia for cesarean section.

Patients And Methods: Ninety pregnant patients who were candidates for cesarean section under epidural anesthesia were randomly categorized into three groups.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Saeid Reza Entezary"

  • - Saeid Reza Entezary's recent research primarily focuses on enhancing postoperative analgesia through various methods, particularly the utilization of adjunct medications in regional anesthesia techniques.
  • - His studies examine the efficacy of dexmedetomidine and dextromethorphan in improving pain management outcomes after significant surgical procedures, such as thoracotomy and knee arthroscopy.
  • - Entezary also explores innovative approaches to objectively assess pain intensity, such as the correlation between electrical resistance in acupuncture meridians and perceived pain levels following orthopedic surgery.
