Results: Based on the bioinformatics analysis and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, a 14 amino acid peptide sequence (LDP 14) was introduced and its interaction with leptin-receptor (ObR) was analyzed in comparison with an well known leptin-derived peptide, Lep 30.

Male genital lesions in monkeypox virus infection: a case series.

Monkeypox virus (MPV) is a rare zoonotic infection caused by an orthopoxvirus. The sudden outbreak of more than 3000 MPV infection from 50 countries has led the WHO to declare the infection as an "evolving threat of moderate public health concern". Here, we describe a case series of two cases of the MPV with a similar onset of cutaneous lesions in the genital area but with different progression in 35 and 41-year-old males respectively.

Renal BCGosis managed conservatively with antituberculous medications.

Intravesical Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy for nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer rarely leads to the development of granulomatous renal masses (renal BCGosis). The management includes nephroureterectomy, antitubercular therapy (ATT), or both. Here, we present a case of a 62-year-old male who was treated with ATT alone for renal masses.

Impact of anticholinergic drugs withdrawal on motor function in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Objectives: Physicians have prescribed anticholinergic agents as monotherapy or adjuvant therapy in patients with Parkinson's disease for decades. However, these medications can cause many adverse effects including gait freezing and falling. Herein we assessed the effects of anticholinergic medications on motor function, freezing of gait and falling in a group of patients with PD.

Assessment of IgE- and cell-mediated immunity in pediatric patients with eosinophilic esophagitis.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic allergen/immune-mediated disease leading to esophageal dysfunction. Food allergens play critical roles in the pathogenesis and treatment of EoE via different mechanisms. This study aimed to present the characteristics and evaluate the ability of skin prick test (SPT), skin prick to prick test (SPP) (IgE-mediated), and atopic patch test (APT) (cell-mediated) individually or simultaneously to diagnose food allergy in patients suffering from EoE.

Tongue Protrusion Dystonia in Pantothenate Kinase-Associated Neurodegeneration.

Background: Tongue protrusion dystonia is an uncommon focal dystonia involving the lingual muscles. Causes of tongue protrusion dystonia include tardive dystonia, posthypoxic dystonia, neuroacanthocytosis, pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration, and Lesch-Nyhan syndrome.

Method: We summarize three children with pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration and tongue protrusion dystonia.

Adrenocortical Oncocytic Carcinoma and Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Incidentally Detected in an Asymptomatic Patient by F-18 FDG PET/CT.

F-18 FDG is the most widely used tracer in molecular imaging and it is applied for many purposes mainly in malignant diseases. Incidental finding are common in FDG-PET/CT imaging and includes benign and malignant lesions. Among the rare tumors‎, adrenal oncocytomas are uncommon findings and incidental findings of thyroid malignancies are not rare.

Investigating the Interaction of Silicon Dioxide Nanoparticles with Human Hemoglobin and Lymphocyte Cells by Biophysical, Computational, and Cellular Studies.

Nanoparticles (NPs) have received great attention in biological and medical applications because of their unique features. However, their induced adverse effects on the biological system are not well-explored. Herein, the interaction of silicon dioxide nanoparticles (SiO NPs) with human hemoglobin (Hb) and lymphocyte cell line was evaluated under physiological conditions by multispectroscopic [intrinsic and synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy and circular dichrosim (CD)], molecular docking, and cellular [3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) and acridine orange/ethidium bromide (AO/EB) staining] methods.

Exhaustion of T lymphocytes in the tumor microenvironment: Significance and effective mechanisms.

T lymphocytes play crucial roles in adaptive immune responses to tumors. However, due to different tolerance mechanisms and inhibitory effects of the tumor microenvironment (TME) on T cells, responses to tumors are insufficient. In fact, cellular and molecular suppressive mechanisms repress T cell responses in the TME, resulting in senescent, anergic and exhausted lymphocytes.

Unidentifiable by morphology: DNA barcoding of plant material in local markets in Iran.

Local markets provide a rapid insight into the medicinal plants growing in a region as well as local traditional health concerns. Identification of market plant material can be challenging as plants are often sold in dried or processed forms. In this study, three approaches of DNA barcoding-based molecular identification of market samples are evaluated, two objective sequence matching approaches and an integrative approach that coalesces sequence matching with a priori and a posteriori data from other markers, morphology, ethnoclassification and species distribution.

[Benefit of clean intermittent self-catheterization in the management of urethral strictures].

Objectives: Urethral stenosis has a recurrent character. The urethroplasty is often proposed for repeat stenosis. This study seeks to explore the interest of clean intermittent self-catheterization in the evolution of urethral stenosis after urethrotomy.

Pancreatic metastasis from clear cell renal cell carcinoma: outcome of an aggressive approach.

Objective: To evaluate the long-term results of patients surgically treated for metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) with a unique pancreatic secondary localization to assess the importance of radical treatment in this rare group of patients.

Patients And Methods: This is a retrospective monocentric study including 20 surgically treated patients between 1997 and 2012 for a unique pancreatic metastasis of a CCRCC. The main objective was to evaluate the outcome after surgical resection.

[Salvage radical prostatectomy for brachytherapy failure: preliminary results].

Objectives: Analysis of preliminary results in six patients operated by second-line (salvage) radical prostatectomy for local recurrence after low-dose brachytherapy.

Patients And Methods: Since January 2009, six patients had an open salvage radical prostatectomy with a lymph node dissection and without neurovascular bundles preservation for a low-dose I125 brachytherapy failure. Local recurrence was confirmed by trans-rectal biopsy or TURP.
