Background: Needle insertion for spinal anesthesia using the Taylor approach is challenging as the L5-S1 space is difficult to locate from the surface anatomy. In this study, we suggest the use of three-dimensional (3D) pelvis computed tomography (CT) to assist anesthesiologists in locating the needle insertion point. By comparing the success rate of 3D pelvis CT-assisted Taylor approach to that of other approaches in the existing literatures, we suggest this technique as an alternative method for subarachnoid block in the L5-S1 space.

Temperature affects the firing pattern and electrical activity of neurons in animals, eliciting diverse responses depending on neuronal cell type. However, the mechanisms underlying such diverse responses are not well understood. In the present study, we performed in vitro recording of abdominal ganglia cells of , and analyzed their burst firing patterns.

Objective: Knowledge of accurate airway length (AL) enables safer placement of the endotracheal tube (ETT) in the trachea. Our objective was to check the safety of a new formula (Touch and Read method) to determine ETT depth.

Methods: AL was measured in 176 patients.

Objective: Compensatory hyperhidrosis (CH) is one of the most problematic complications of sympathectomy, which occurs often and is hard to treat. A predictive procedure (PP) for CH can help patients experience compensatory sweating before sympathectomy to determine whether or not to perform sympathectomy. Our study aimed to evaluate the CH after the PP and sympathectomy in patients with primary palmar hyperhidrosis using multiple drugs.

Previous studies have shown that tolerance to the antinociceptive effect of morphine develops after a prolonged exposure, but its mechanisms remain unclear. In the present study, we examined whether anti-morphine antibody produced by chronic morphine exposure would contribute to the development of morphine antinociceptive tolerance in rats. Our results showed that anti-morphine antibody was present in rats rendered tolerance to antinociception after intrathecal morphine exposure for seven consecutive days.
