A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, aerobic, pale-yellow coloured and oval-shaped bacterium designated GRR-S6-38 was isolated from a tidal flat sediment that collected from Garorim Bay of the Yellow Sea, Republic of Korea. Strain GRR-S6-38 grew at 15-40 °C (optimum, 30 °C) at pH 6-9 (optimum, pH 7) and at 2-6% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2% NaCl). Background: We evaluated the prognostic effect of lymphocytopenia caused by preoperative radiation therapy and chemotherapy in patients with rectal cancer.
Methods: A total of 147 patients with rectal cancer who underwent preoperative chemoradiotherapy and surgical resection between 2008 to 2021 participated. Lymphocyte nadir less than 500/μl were defined as lymphocytopenia in this study.
Current guidelines recommend a two-step algorithm rather than relying solely on a single test for diagnosing infection. This algorithm starts with enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for detecting glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) and toxins A/B, followed by nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) for GDH-positive but toxin-negative cases. This study compared the performance of three commercial NAATs: the STANDARD M10 , Xpert , and BD MAX Cdiff assays, utilized as confirmatory testing of the two-step algorithm.

Delivering ribonucleoproteins (RNPs) for in vivo genome editing is safer than using viruses encoding for Cas9 and its respective guide RNA. However, transient RNP activity does not typically lead to optimal editing outcomes. Here we show that the efficiency of delivering RNPs can be enhanced by cell-penetrating peptides (covalently fused to the protein or as excipients) and that lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating RNPs can be optimized for enhanced RNP stability, delivery efficiency and editing potency.

To enhance the efficacy of influenza vaccines, we induce the generation of lung T cells following intranasal vaccination with a commercial influenza vaccine adjuvanted with NexaVant (NVT), a TLR3 agonist-based adjuvant. We demonstrate that intranasal immunization with the NVT-adjuvanted vaccine provides improved protection against influenza virus infections by inducing the generation of CD4 T cells in the lungs in a type I interferon-dependent manner.
