Background: Policies, such as stay home, bubbling, and stay with your community, recommending that individuals reduce contact with diverse communities, including families and schools, have been introduced to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, these policies are violated if individuals from various communities gather, which is a latent risk in a real society where people move among various unreported communities.

Objective: We aimed to create a physical index to assess the possibility of contact between individuals from diverse communities, which serves as an indicator of the potential risk of SARS-CoV-2 spread when considered and combined with existing indices.

A co-author of this paper had previously presented the principle of "Stay with Your Community" as a method of countermeasures against COVID-19 infection spread and have been working on its social implementation. This case study paper presents an example of activities to spread the Stay with Your Community principle to citizens and visitors in Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, in order to control the spread of COVID-19 infection. As a result, the infection cluster was successfully controlled.

A homogeneous thin film of a simple and highly luminescent Cu(i) complex, [CuI(PPh3)2(py)] (PPh3 = triphenylphosphine, py = pyridine) (Cu-py), was fabricated via spin coating using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and pyridine without destroying the complex. The thin film (Cu-py@PVP), with a thickness of 1 μm, exhibited efficient response to vapour, exhibiting reversible luminescence changes between blue-green and yellow upon exposure to vapours of N-heteroaromatic compounds such as py and 2-methylpyrazine (Mepyz). Vapochromic luminescence colour change resulting from ligand substitution was also observed in the crystal state, but the response of the thin film was remarkably faster than that of the crystalline samples.
