To report the surgical safety of reinforced bio-interventional cyclodialysis with scleral allograft reinforcement. This was a consecutive case series of 243 eyes with open-angle glaucoma who underwent a bio-scaffolded cyclodialysis (BSC) procedure for uveoscleral outflow enhancement using allogeneic bio-spacers to maintain patency of the internal filtration conduit. 79% of the eyes underwent concomitant phacoemulsification cataract surgery prior to BSC intervention, while the remaining eyes underwent stand-alone BSC surgery.

Doxorubicin (DOX), a chemotherapy drug, has demonstrated limited efficacy against glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor with resistance attributed to the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This study aims to overcome this challenge by proposing the targeted delivery of magnetic Janus nanoparticles (MJNPs) functionalized with folic acid ligands, fluorescent dye, and doxorubicin (DOX/MJNPs-FLA). The properties of these nanoparticles were comprehensively evaluated using bio-physiochemical techniques such as Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential analysis, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), fluorescence microscopy, MTT assay, hemolysis assay, and liver enzyme level evaluation.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluated the long-term effects of lotilaner ophthalmic solution, 0.25%, for treating Demodex blepharitis, involving 239 patients who completed a prior study and returned for follow-ups at 180 and 365 days post-treatment.
  • Results showed a significantly higher number of patients in the lotilaner group with fewer collarettes (indicators of infestation) compared to the control group, with improvement continuing even after treatment ended, and only mild adverse events reported.
  • The conclusions suggest that the treatment remains effective over a year, with no significant long-term safety issues, indicating that the benefits of lotilaner may extend beyond the initial treatment period.

Malignant neoplasms are one of the main causes of death, especially in children, on a global scale, despite strenuous efforts made at advancing both diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. In this regard, a new nanocarrier Vincristine (VCR)-loaded Pluronic f127 polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticles conjugated with folic acid and transferrin (PMNP-VCR-FA-TF) were synthesized and characterized by various methods. The cytotoxicity of these nanoparticles was evaluated in vitro and ex vivo conditions.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to examine the cyclic fatigue resistances #16 ProGlider, #15.02 Scout RaCe, #15.03 NeoNiTi GPS, One G and Path-File NiTi glide path files in S-shaped artificial canals.

Objectives: Ideal root canal shaping might be more challenging particularly in cases with severely curved canals or complex anatomical variations. Glide path preparation is suggested as a critical step to achieve ideal canal preparation. The present study is aimed at evaluating transportation at different levels of the canal following glide path preparation by five different path finders.

Purpose: To evaluate the prevalence of blepharitis by its pathognomonic sign, collarettes, in patients presenting for any reason to eye care clinics in the United States.

Patients And Methods: In this retrospective study by 7 investigators at 6 eye care clinics, case records of consecutive patients who underwent a slit-lamp examination, regardless of chief complaint, were reviewed for blepharitis, as identified by the presence of collarettes. Patient characteristics, including age, gender, race, relevant ocular and systemic diagnoses, ocular medications, lid hygiene practices and contact lens wear, were also recorded.

Although comorbidity of psychotic disorders and substance use can lead to increase in mortality, less is known about the outbreak and predictors. Psychotic patients tend to be overlooked during assessment; hence, the possibility of an undertreated or missed condition such as increasing substance use. This investigation aimed to measure the prevalence of substance use in psychotic patients and to survey the powerful predictors.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and ocular safety of bromfenac ophthalmic solution 0.09% dosed once daily for the treatment of ocular inflammation and pain following cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation.

Methods: A total of 455 subjects (455 study eyes: 230 bromfenac, 225 placebo) were enrolled in two randomized double-masked, placebo-controlled, clinical trials at 64 ophthalmology clinics in the United States.

Objectives: Bronchial asthma is a common and life threatening problem affecting school children and adolescents. The flare-up of asthma may lead to impaired daily function and absence from school. These complications of bronchial asthma could be influenced by poor knowledge, poor use of inhaler technique, non-compliance and negative attitude toward the illness and drugs.
