Article Synopsis
  • Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) is typically seen as a low-grade brain tumor (WHO Grade-II), but instances of more aggressive forms with worse prognoses have emerged, labeled as "PXA with anaplastic features."
  • The case involves a 9-year-old girl suffering from recurrent headaches, seizures, and academic difficulties, with MRI scans showing a problematic mass in the brain and signs of a high-grade glial tumor.
  • Surgical removal of the tumor led to findings showing a complex mixture of abnormal cells, confirming the diagnosis of pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma with anaplastic features due to specific histological characteristics like abnormal cell structures and aggressive cell behavior.
