Besides, iron oxide nanoparticles are well-known photocatalysts for degrading organic pollutants.

Exploiting Multiple Optimizers with Transfer Learning Techniques for the Identification of COVID-19 Patients.

Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 and its induced death worldwide, it is imperative to develop a reliable tool for the early detection of this disease. Chest X-ray is currently accepted to be one of the reliable means for such a detection purpose. However, most of the available methods utilize large training data, and there is a need for improvement in the detection accuracy due to the limited boundary segment of the acquired images for symptom identifications.

Aldehyde Dehydrogenases and Prostate Cancer: Shedding Light on Isoform Distribution to Reveal Druggable Target.

Prostate cancer represents the most common malignancy diagnosed in men, and is the second-leading cause of cancer death in this population. In spite of dedicated efforts, the current therapies are rarely curative, requiring the development of novel approaches based on innovative molecular targets. In this work, we validated aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 and 1A3 isoform expressions in different prostatic tissue-derived cell lines (normal, benign and malignant) and patient-derived primary prostate tumor epithelial cells, demonstrating their potential for therapeutic intervention using a small library of aldehyde dehydrogenase inhibitors.

A New Adaptive Synergetic Control Design for Single Link Robot Arm Actuated by Pneumatic Muscles.

This paper suggests a new control design based on the concept of Synergetic Control theory for controlling a one-link robot arm actuated by Pneumatic artificial muscles (PAMs) in opposing bicep/tricep positions. The synergetic control design is first established based on known system parameters. However, in real PAM-actuated systems, the uncertainties are inherited features in their parameters and hence an adaptive synergetic control algorithm is proposed and synthesized for a PAM-actuated robot arm subjected to perturbation in its parameters.

Characterization of Marangoni Forced Convection in Casson Nanoliquid Flow with Joule Heating and Irreversibility.

The Marangoni forced convective inclined magnetohydrodynamic flow is examined. Marangoni forced convection depends on the differences in surface pressure computed by magnetic field, temperature, and concentration gradient. Casson nanoliquid flow by an infinite disk is considered.

Clinical Profile and Outcome of Patients with Cerebral Venous Thrombosis Secondary to Bacterial Infections.

Background: Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) secondary to infectious aetiology has become rare in the antibiotic era, but is still encountered in clinical practice occasionally. In this study, we describe the clinical profile, diagnosis, and management of patients with CVT secondary to an infectious aetiology.

Methods: This retrospective study included all adult patients over 15 years (1 January 2002 to 1 January 2017).

Toxoplasmosis is caused by an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite; Toxoplasma gondii, which is one of the most important zoonotic parasite worldwide. In dogs, the sexual reproductive cycle of T. gondii is lacking, and the animals are not widely consumed as food, but they are vital in the mechanical transmission of the parasite.

A Case of Large Calcifying Fibroma of Tendo-achilles Managed by En-block Resection and Tendon Reconstruction.

Calcifying aponeurotic fibroma is a rare benign fibrous tumor with typical radiological and histopathological features seen in young children and adolescents. It commonly involves the extremities and is characterized by a very high chance of local recurrence. A complete excision of the tumor is considered to be the treatment of choice.

A combined molecular dynamic simulation, DFT calculations, and experimental study of the eriochrome black T dye adsorption onto chitosan in aqueous solutions.

This study aims to evaluate and understand the adsorption of eriochrome black T (EB) by chitosan extracted from local shrimp shells under different experimental conditions. Chitosan samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, and FTIR. Experimental results indicate that the process was pH-dependent with a high adsorption capacity in acidic medium.

Background: In acute organophosphorus (OP) or carbamate poisoning, some patients require high dose atropine to counteract the effects on heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP). This study describes the factors associated with high dose atropine therapy and the use of adrenaline to reverse the inadequate HR response to atropine.

Understanding Knowledgeable Workers' Behavior Toward COVID-19 Information Sharing Through WhatsApp in Pakistan.

Using social media through mobile has become a major source of disseminating information; however, the motivations that impact social media users' intention and actual information-sharing behavior need further examination. To this backdrop, drawing on the uses and gratifications theory, theory of prosocial behavior, and theory of planned behavior, we aim to examine various motivations toward information-sharing behaviors in a specific context [coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)]. We collected data from 388 knowledgeable workers through Google Forms and applied structural equation modeling to test the hypotheses.

Predicting Clinical Outcome in Acute Ischemic Stroke Using Parallel Multi-parametric Feature Embedded Siamese Network.

Stroke is the second leading cause of death and disability worldwide, with ischemic stroke as the most common type. The preferred diagnostic procedure at the acute stage is the acquisition of multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This type of imaging not only detects and locates the stroke lesion, but also provides the blood flow dynamics that helps clinicians in assessing the risks and benefits of reperfusion therapies.

Infection Prevention and Control Measures at the Children Hospital Lahore: A My Child Matters Collaborative Project.

Purpose: Infection prevention among children with cancer is a major challenge at Children Hospital Lahore (CHL), a public health care facility in Pakistan with 1,000 new pediatric cancer admissions annually. The objective has been to reduce infections through collaboration between CHL and the St Jude Children's Hospital Global Infectious Disease program via a grant by the Sanofi Espoir foundation through the My Child Matters program. The aim of the current study was to describe the effect of the collaborative improvement strategy on existing infection prevention and control (IPC) standards at CHL.

Posterior segment inflammatory outcomes assessed using fluorescein angiography in the STOP-UVEITIS study.

Background: Although fluorescein angiography (FA) is a frequently used imaging modality in patients with non-infectious uveitis (NIU), it has not been reliably used for objective assessment of posterior segment inflammatory outcomes in these patients. In this index study we report the posterior segment inflammatory outcomes of two different doses of intravenous (IV) infusions of tocilizumab (TCZ), an IL-6 inhibitor, in eyes with NIU using a semi-quantitative FA scoring system.

Police employees have to work extra during uncertain situations as they are responsible to maintain law and order. Currently, this department is facing a similar situation because of COVID-19. Therefore, this study aims at investigating how police employees' perceptions of workload imbalance their family roles and further increase their job stress and dissatisfaction.

Cow- and herd-level factors associated with lameness in dairy farms in Peninsular Malaysia.

Lameness is a major welfare issue in dairy cows. This study was aimed at investigating the cow- and herd -level factors associated with lameness in dairy farms from four states in Peninsular Malaysia. The study population was 1001 lactating cows from 28 dairy farms located in Selangor (n = 9), Perak (n = 8), Negeri Sembilan (n = 6) and Johor (n = 5).

Comparative assessment of impact analysis methods applied to large commercial aircraft crash on reinforced concrete containment.

The precise evaluation of the potential damage caused by large commercial aircraft crash into civil structures, especially nuclear power plants (NPPs), has become essential design consideration. In this study, impact of Boeing 767 against rigid wall and outer containment building (reinforced concrete) of an NPP are simulated in ANSYS/LS-DYNA by using both force time history and missile target interaction methods with impact velocities ranging from 100 m/s to 150 m/s. The results show that impact loads, displacements, stresses for concrete and steel reinforcement, and damaged elements are higher in case of force time history method than missile target interaction method, making the former relatively conservative.

Identification of Motor and Mental Imagery EEG in Two and Multiclass Subject-Dependent Tasks Using Successive Decomposition Index.

The development of fast and robust brain-computer interface (BCI) systems requires non-complex and efficient computational tools. The modern procedures adopted for this purpose are complex which limits their use in practical applications. In this study, for the first time, and to the best of our knowledge, a successive decomposition index (SDI)-based feature extraction approach is utilized for the classification of motor and mental imagery electroencephalography (EEG) tasks.

Werner Syndrome Protein Expression in Breast Cancer.

Introduction: Werner protein (WRN) plays an important role in DNA repair, replication, transcription, and consequently genomic stability via its DNA-helicase and exonuclease activity. Loss of function of WRN is associated with Werner syndrome (WS), which is characterized by premature aging and cancer predisposition. Malignancies that are commonly linked to WS are thyroid carcinoma, melanoma, breast cancer, meningioma, and soft tissue and bone sarcomas.

Claw Trimming as a Lameness Management Practice and the Association with Welfare and Production in Dairy Cows.

Lameness resulting from claw lesions remains a pressing welfare issue in dairy cows. Claw trimming (CT) is a common practice for prevention and management of clinically lame cows. This review summarizes the results of studies that have investigated various claw trimming (CT) methods, their application in lameness management, and associations with the welfare and production of dairy cows.

Antimicrobial resistance modulation of MDR E. coli by antibiotic coated ZnO nanoparticles.

We evaluated three types of total six preparations against multidrug resistant E. coli i) three antibiotic coated ZnO nanoparticles (gentamicin coated nanoparticle-GNp; chloramphenicol coated nanoparticles-CNp; and both gentamicin & chloramphenicol coated nanoparticle-GCNp), ii) ZnO nanoparticle alone-Np, and iii) two antibiotics used in single (Gentamicin-G; and Chloramphenicol-C). A total of n = 200 sub-clinically positive mastitic milk samples of bovine origin were processed for isolation of MDR E.

Prediction of lisinopril pediatric dose from the reference adult dose by employing a physiologically based pharmacokinetic model.

Background: This study aimed to assess the pediatric lisinopril doses using an adult physiological based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model. As the empirical rules of dose calculation cannot calculate gender-specific pediatric doses and ignores the age-related physiological differences.

Methods: A PBPK model of lisinopril for the healthy adult population was developed for oral (fed and fasting) and IV administration using PK-Sim MoBI® and was scaled down to a virtual pediatric population for prediction of lisinopril doses in neonates to infants, infants to toddler, children at pre-school age, children at school age and the adolescents.

Transient contrast induced neurotoxicity after coronary angiography: A contrast re-challenge case.

Contrast induced neurotoxicity (CIN) is a rare complication of cardiac catheterization and re-exposure to contrast medium carries the risk of recurrent CIN. We report a case of successful contrast re-challenge in a 60-year-old female patient who developed CIN after her first procedure of coronary angiography (CAG) which resulted in symptoms of disorientation, amnesia and cortical blindness. A non-contrast enhanced CT performed four hours after the CAG was normal, however, her MRI brain scan showed scattered tiny hyper intensities in posterior occipito-temporal and parietal regions suggesting CIN.
