North-Western section of Bangladesh is experiencing a protracted decrease in precipitation, irregular rainfall, and the depletion of ground water, which results in water scarcity and extreme dry weather that impedes the production of agricultural commodities and threatens the people's way of life. Analyzing the precipitation deficit and ground water deficit, along with vegetation cover, temperature condition, and the condition of the vegetation is a crucial component of drought vulnerability assessment. Rajshahi Zilla, a region of Bangladesh located in the middle of the Barind tract, is experiencing a severe water shortage.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been in the spotlight for the past two decades due to their extensive role in regulating a wide range of cellular processes. Development, differentiation, regulation, and modulation are some of the vital cellular cascades coordinated by these molecules. Despite their importance, there has been limited literature on their practical implications in cancer prevention.

Papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC) is the second most common histological subtype of renal cell cancer. This research aims to present a large database study highlighting the demographic, clinical, and pathological factors, racial disparities, prognosis, and survival of PRCC. The clinical and demographic data were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, and molecular data was cured from the Catalogue Of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC) database.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines trends and causes of 30-day readmissions in patients with cardiac amyloidosis, highlighting their impact on patient health and healthcare resources.
  • A total of 3,374 patients were analyzed from the National Readmission Database, revealing a 19.6% readmission rate, with common causes being heart conditions and kidney issues.
  • The findings indicate that young age and hospital size are key predictors of readmissions, which lead to increased mortality, longer hospital stays, and significant costs to the healthcare system.

Revolving-disk systems are employed in various industrial settings including turbine engineering, chemical and food processing industries and others. The current article scrutinizes a second-grade fluid motion generated by an infinite porous disk having partial slip character. Heat transfer induced by heating of the disk surface and by viscous and ohmic heating effects is modeled and analyzed under thermal slip condition.

Atrial myxoma is the most frequent primary cardiac tumor; however, it is a rare, substantial cause of cardiogenic emboli causing a stroke, especially in young adults. A cardiac myxoma has no specific clinical presentation, ranging from constitutional symptoms to non-cardiac symptoms and emboli, which leads to a diagnostic challenge in the clinical process. We report a case of a left atrial myxoma in an adult female who presented with sudden onset of right-sided weakness, headache, and numbness.

Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory condition with varying local and systemic complications and variable severity. Although rare, cardiovascular complications induced by acute pancreatitis are rarely described in the literature. Epigastric pain with acute pancreatitis often simulates electrocardiographic changes in the absence of coronary artery abnormalities, resulting in a diagnostic dilemma for optimal treatment and management.

The clinical application of microRNAs in modern therapeutics holds great promise to uncover molecular limitations and conquer the unbeatable castle of cancer metastasis. miRNAs play a decisive role that regulating gene expression at the post-transcription level while controlling both the stability and translation capacity of mRNAs. Specifically, miR34a is a master regulator of the tumor suppressor gene, cancer progression, stemness, and drug resistance at the cell level in p53-dependent and independent signaling.

  • The study aimed to evaluate the toxicity and antihyperuricemic effects of a polyherbal formulation named "Goubion," which includes various plant parts.
  • Acute toxicity tests showed no mortality at high doses (2000 mg/kg), but some significant changes in blood and kidney parameters at lower doses (60 mg/kg).
  • In antihyperuricemic tests, Goubion effectively lowered uric acid levels at doses of 15 mg/kg and 20 mg/kg, suggesting it may work by inhibiting xanthine oxidase dehydrogenase.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is an inflammatory process in the lungs that induces non-hydrostatic protein-rich pulmonary edema. ARDS occurs in roughly half of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia patients, with most of them requiring intensive care. Oxygen saturation, partial pressure of the oxygen, and the fraction of the inspired oxygen are health indicators that may indicate a severe illness necessitating further investigation.
