This study aimed to investigate the effects of arthrocentesis with intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA) injection on mandibular condyles using fractal dimension (FD) analysis. Patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) internal derangement (ID) were divided into three groups according to how many times the arthrocentesis with HA injection was performed. FD analysis is a quantitative concept that provides information about trabecular bone microstructures.

Arthrocentesis plus intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA) injection for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders is known to be a safe and minimally invasive surgical procedure. Arthrocentesis plus HA injection has a pain-reducing effect on TMJ disorders. It is also a palliative treatment that yields positive results in terms of clinical findings such as clicking and mouth opening.

Objectives: Prolotherapy is a method that has gained popularity in recent years and has been reported to have positive short-term and long-term clinical results in maxillofacial surgery, especially temporomandibular joint (TMJ) hypermobility. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in the trabecular structure of mandibular condyles in patients who underwent prolotherapy due to TMJ hypermobility using the fractal analysis method.

Materials And Methods: Forty-five patients who received dextrose prolotherapy at a concentration of 20% and fifteen control patients were included in the study.

Wilson's disease (WD) is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disease that affects copper metabolism. Anomalies can be seen in the dento-maxillofacial structures of WD patients. Dens invaginatus (DI) is an uncommon tooth anomaly, and its incidence in decidious and permanent molars is even lower.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the biostimulation (BS) effect of the gallium-aluminum-arsenide (GaAlAs) diode laser by histopathology with an experimental osteoarthritis (OA) model in the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) of rabbits, in the early period. GaAlAs diode laser is used for pain reduction in TMJ disorders. Twenty-four adult male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three equal groups: Control Group (CG), Study Group 1 (SG-1), and Study Group 2 (SG-2).

Purpose: To compare the outcomes achieved with eminectomy, discectomy alone, and discectomy with an abdominal dermis fat graft (D + ADFG) in the treatment of internal derangements (IDs) of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), and to briefly discuss the failed cases in which a second operation was needed.

Patients And Methods: This was a retrospective study of 31 patients (27 females, 4 males) who were unresponsive to conservative therapy and therefore underwent eminectomy (group A, n = 6), discectomy alone (group B, n = 8), or D + ADFG (group C, n = 17). All of the IDs of the TMJ were unilateral.

For placement of a temporomandibular joint prosthesis, preauricular and retromandibular approaches are used. The main complication of the retromandibular approach is marginal mandibular nerve damage. In this technical study, the retromandibular subparotideomasseteric fascial approach is introduced as an alternative to avoid the complications of the conventional retromandibular approach.
