A rare cause of hemoptysis.

Angiosarcomas are rare, malignant, endothelial-cell tumors of vascular origin that can arise at any body site. They frequently metastasize to the lung, heralded by dyspnea, hemoptysis, chest pain, pneumothoraces, and diffuse pulmonary hemorrhage. However, in most cases lung metastases are discovered after the diagnosis of a primary angiosarcoma has already been established.

Incidental finding and management of intralobar sequestration of the lung in a 24-year-old man.

Pulmonary sequestration is described as a dysplastic mass of lung tissue that lacks communication with the tracheobronchial tree and receives systemic rather than pulmonary arterial blood supply. Two distinct classifications, intralobar and extralobar, have been described. The present article discusses the etiology, clinical and radiographic features of pulmonary sequestration as well as the management of this condition when it is discovered incidentally.

Development of transient peanut allergy following lung transplantation: a case report.

A 47-year-old woman underwent bilateral lung transplantation for nonspecific interstitial pneumonitis and received donor lungs from a 12-year-old patient with a known peanut allergy. Post-transplant, the patient experienced four anaphylaxis-like reactions. A skin prick test to peanut was initially positive; however, it steadily declined over serial assessments and reverted to negative one year post-transplant.

Feasibility of internet-based health-related quality of life data collection in a large patient cohort.

Background: Patient registries are commonly used to track survival and medical outcomes in large cohorts. However, large-scale collection of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) data is more challenging because such data must be collected directly from patients. Internet-based HRQOL questionnaires are a potential solution, allowing home data collection with immediate storage in a central database.

Perception of asthma as a factor in career choice among young adults with asthma.

Background/aim: Asthma is a common chronic condition that can be aggravated by workplace exposures. Young adults with asthma should know how their future occupation might affect their asthma, and potentially, their quality of life. The aim of the present study was to assess the awareness of young adults to occupational risks for asthma and high-risk occupations, as well as their perception of the role of asthma in career choice.
