Purpose: Non-invasive encapsulated follicular variant of papillary thyroid cancer was reclassified as non-invasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP). These neoplasms have an extremely low malignant potential. The aim of this study was (1) to assess the prevalence of NIFTP in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma, (2) to evaluate their outcomes, and (3) to determine their molecular profile.

Methods: Clinical data from 27 patients with confirmed mtDNA pathogenic variants were obtained from a database of 89 patients with suspected mitochondrial disease, registered from 2014 to 2020. Clinical data, biochemical analysis, neuroimaging findings, muscle biopsy and molecular studies were analyzed.
Autosomal dominant limb girdle muscular dystrophy D3 HNRNPDL-related is a rare dominant myopathy caused by mutations in HNRNPDL. Only three unrelated families have been described worldwide, a Brazilian and a Chinese carrying the mutation c.1132G>A p.

Considering bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMC) are easily obtained and readily available for transplant, this work analyzed the effect of BMMC systemic administration on nerve repair and pain behavior.
Methods: Adult rats with sciatic nerve crush were immediately and systemically injected BMMC through the caudal artery.
CADASIL is the most common cause of hereditary stroke and vascular dementia. Published information about this disease in South America is scant. We describe clinical and demographic characteristics of 13 patients (10 families) with CADASIL from Argentina.

FHL1 mutations have been associated with various disorders that include reducing body myopathy (RBM), Emery-Dreifuss-like muscular dystrophy, isolated hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and some overlapping conditions. We report a detailed histochemical, immunohistochemical, electron microscopic, and immunoelectron microscopic analyses of muscle biopsies from 18 patients carrying mutations in FHL1: 14 RBM patients (Group 1), 3 Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy patients (Group 2), and 1 patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and muscular hypertrophy (Group 2). Group 1 muscle biopsies consistently showed RBs associated with cytoplasmic bodies.

We report an infant girl with severe generalized hypotonia, born at 33 weeks gestation who required ventilatory assistance since birth. She had bilateral ptosis, mild knee and foot contractures and echocardiographic evidence of cardiomyopathy.

The mutations detected in FHL1 affected highly conserved zinc coordinating residues within the second LIM domain and lead to the formation of aggregates when transfected into cells. Our aim was to define the clinical and morphological phenotype of this myopathy and to assess the mutational spectrum of FHL1 mutations in reducing body myopathy in a larger cohort of patients.

The most resistant clones were numbers 4 and 8, which exhibited 6.7- and 4.

More lipophilic 5-aminolevulinic acid prodrugs and the use of liposomal carriers are two approaches aimed at improving 5-aminolevulinic acid transmembrane access. In this study we used both 5-aminolevulinic acid and its hexyl ester in their free and encapsulated formulations to compare their corresponding endogenous synthesis of porphyrins.

Brain showed polymicrogyria and occipital agyria with marginal neuroglial heterotopia and inferior vermis hypoplasia. There was a normal pattern of myelination consistent with early age.

Twenty-four cases were late infantile Jansky-Bielschowsky (LINCL) and 6 were juvenile Spielmeyer-Vogt (JNCL). Sex ratio was female:male, 20:10.

Twenty-eight cases have been reported while several pathogenic hypotheses have been proposed. Sural nerve biopsy of a 10-year-old Argentinian girl showed a reduced number of myelinated fibers as well as several enlarged axons up to 30 microns in diameter, thinly myelinated or devoid of myelin sheath, displaying accumulation of neurofilaments (NF), but few microtubules (MT) beneath the axolemmal membrane.

Such tumors have also been found in heart, bone, liver, lung and lymph nodes, and Kepes and Rubinstein described two intracranial examples in adults in 1986 [J. Neuropath.
