Aluminum chloride (AlCl), a known neurotoxic and Alzheimerogenic metal disrupts redox homeostasis which plays a pivotal role in pathophysiology of neurodegenerative disorders, particularly cognitive decline. The current study was designed to unveil the long-term neuroprotective outcomes and efficacy of CoQ10 and curcumin low dose (100 mg/kg each) combination in 18-months old geriatric male Balb/c mice subjected to AlCl-prompted memory derangements (200 mg/kg in water bottles) for 28 days. The neuroprotective properties driven by antioxidant mechanisms were assessed via observing cellular pathology in key-memory related brain regions including the cornuammonis (CA3 and DG) and cortex 2/3 layer.

One of the most recent advances in the analysis of viral RNA-cellular protein interactions is the Comprehensive Identification of RNA-binding Proteins by Mass Spectrometry (ChIRP-MS). Here, we used ChIRP-MS in mock-infected and Zika-infected wild-type cells and cells knockout for the zinc finger CCCH-type antiviral protein 1 (ZAP). We characterized 'ZAP-independent' and 'ZAP-dependent' cellular protein interactomes associated with flavivirus RNA and found that ZAP affects cellular proteins associated with Zika virus RNA.

Pentylenetetrazole- (PTZ)-induced kindling is a broadly used experimental model to evaluate the impact of antiseizure drugs and their novel combination on seizure progression. The current study aimed to evaluate the anti-kindling effects of ivermectin (IVM) and rufinamide (RUFI) alone and their combination with vitamin E. The mice were administered 11 injections of PTZ (40 mg/kg) followed by assessment for anxiety-like behavior and cognitive abilities in a series of behavior tests with subsequent brain isolation for biochemical and histopathological evaluation.

In the present study, the impact of brivaracetam (BRV) (10 and 20 mg/kg) as monotherapy as well as in combination with 0.25 mg/kg of perampanel (PRP) was investigated on seizure progression with simultaneous electroencephalographic changes in PTZ kindling mouse model.

Laparoscopic excision of a large retroperitoneal cyst: Case report and literature review.

Retroperitoneal cysts, a rare surgical phenomenon, present diagnostic challenges due to their typically asymptomatic nature. A 62-year-old male presented with a 4-month history of abdominal distension and increased burping. Upon clinical examination, a soft, distended, nontender abdomen with a palpable mass extending from the epigastric region to 3 cm below the umbilicus was revealed.

This study was performed to determine the influences of pre- and/or postharvest chitosan (Ch) coatings on postharvest quality of minimally processed (stem-detached) organic 'Crimson Seedless' berries. Berries were sorted as: (a) control (untreated berries); (b) preharvest Ch (dipping the clusters on the vine into 1% Ch 10 days before harvest at 20% soluble solid content (SSC)); (c) postharvest Ch (dipping the stem-detached berries into 1% Ch); and (d) pre + postharvest Ch.

Introduction: Nora's lesion or bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (BPOP) is a rare, benign lesion of small bones of hands and feet in adults. It composed of differing amounts of cartilage, bone, and spindle cells and an unusual form of calcified cartilage so-called "blue bone".

Burnout and patient safety culture assessment in a secondary care hospital.

Objectives: To identify employee burn-out and assess its impact on patient safety culture.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out amongst healthcare providers (HCP) of Tehsil Head Quarter Manawan Hospital, Lahore from April 1 till 30, 2023, who had been working for at least one year and directly involved in patient care. Two questionnaires were used; the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) to assess level of burnout, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) patient safety culture survey.

Moyamoya disease/cerebral vasculopathy in osteopathia striata with cranial sclerosis: a rare but important complication.

Osteopathia striata with cranial sclerosis (OSCS) is a rare X-linked dominant sclerosing osteodysplasia, due to AMER1 pathogenic variants. Characteristic features include craniofacial sclerosis and long-bone metaphyseal striations. Moyamoya disease (a type of progressive cerebral vasculopathy) and other types of cerebral vascular disease are not currently clearly associated with OSCS (except for two separate case reports), and can often first present with stroke.

Medial swivel dislocation of talonavicular joint: a case report and literature review.

Midtarsal dislocations of the foot are rare injuries. Most descriptions of these injuries state that they develop due to high-energy trauma. We present a case of low-energy trauma leading to a medial swivel dislocation of the talonavicular joint, which was reduced by a closed method and immobilized in a cast.

Gender and racialisation of pharmaceutical sector leaders in Canada: a cross-sectional study.

Objective/design: Lacking diversity in pharmaceutical leadership positions could contribute to inequities in medicine access. The objective of this cross-sectional study was to determine the gender and racial identities of individuals who hold leadership positions in the Canadian pharmaceutical sector.

Participants: We compiled a list of all Canadian governmental bodies, pharmaceutical companies and insurance providers.

Case Report: Osteosclerotic metaphyseal dysplasia with optic nerve involvement and progressive osteonecrosis of the jaw due to a novel LRRK1 mutation.

Background: Osteosclerotic metaphyseal dysplasia (OSMD, OMIM 615198) is an extremely rare autosomal recessive osteopetrosis disorder resulting in a distinctive pattern of osteosclerosis of the metaphyseal margins of long tubular bones. To date, only thirteen cases have been reported (eight molecularly confirmed). Five homozygous sequence variants in the leucine-rich repeat kinase 1 () gene have been identified to cause OSMD.
