Paediatric rotations in undergraduate medical education in Switzerland: Meeting students' expectations and the goals of the competency-based learning catalogue PROFILES.

Introduction: The competency-based catalogue of learning objectives "Principal Relevant Objectives and Framework for Integrative Learning and Education in Switzerland" (PROFILES) based on Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) was newly introduced in 2018 in undergraduate medical education in Switzerland. Clerkships provide opportunities for students to train clinical skills and competencies within the curriculum. This study aims to assess the students' experiences during paediatric clerkships and whether they achieve the expected competency level of certain EPAs by the end of their training.

Aftercare of Childhood Cancer Survivors in Switzerland-The General Practitioner Model.

Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) represent a growing population worldwide, and lifelong follow-up care is recommended for most. Once CCS become adults, the transition to adult care is emerging. Today, there is no transition or long-term follow-up care model in the adult setting that clearly outweighs others.

Can Lymph Node Involvement in Unilateral Wilms Tumor be Predicted by Preoperatively known Data in Combination with Intraoperative Findings?

Objective: This study aimed to identify parameters that allow the estimation of tumor-infiltrated lymph nodes (LN) after pretreatment for unilateral Wilms tumor (WT).

Summary Background Data: Complete tumor resection with removal of regional LN is always necessary. Positive LNs require local irradiation influencing benefits in case of NSS in long-term follow-up.

Impact of Time to Surgery on Outcome in Wilms Tumor Treated with Preoperative Chemotherapy.

(1) Background: Wilms tumor (WT) treated preoperatively is cured in over 90% of cases. However, how long preoperative chemotherapy can be given is unknown. (2) Methods: 2561/3030 patients with WT (age < 18 years) treated between 1989 and 2022 according to SIOP-9/GPOH, SIOP-93-01/GPOH, and SIOP-2001/GPOH are retrospectively analyzed to assess the risk of time to surgery (TTS) for relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS).

Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is a cancer predisposition syndrome caused by pathogenic TP53 variants. The condition represents one of the most relevant genetic causes of cancer in children and adults due to its frequency and high cancer risk. The term Li-Fraumeni spectrum reflects the evolving phenotypic variability of the condition.

Unilateral facial swelling in an infant.

The melanotic neuroectodermal tumour of infancy (MNTI) is an uncommon, usually benign neoplasm which is most commonly found in the maxilla. We describe the case of a 6-month-old boy who was referred with a swiftly increasing swelling of the left cheek. After imaging and biopsy, MNTI was confirmed, and surgical resection was performed.
