Effects of interprofessional education for medical and nursing students: enablers, barriers and expectations for optimizing future interprofessional collaboration - a qualitative study.

Background: To ensure high quality patient care an effective interprofessional collaboration between healthcare professionals is required. Interprofessional education (IPE) has a positive impact on team work in daily health care practice. Nevertheless, there are various challenges for sustainable implementation of IPE.

A model of interprofessional problem-based learning for medical and nursing students: Implementation, evaluation and implications for future implementation.

In Germany there is little evidence of interprofessional problem-based learning (PBL) to date. For this reason a corresponding course for medical and nursing students was implemented. The goal was to analyse the feasibility and usefulness from the point of view of the students.

Background: The development of innovative health care concepts is needed in order to meet the population's need for nursing care in the future. Nurses take over new and expanded roles with a higher degree of professional autonomy. This requires the further development of academic training options for nursing professionals.

Background: The aging population causes a sustained increase in demand of medical and nursing care services. At the same time health care professionals are aging, too. This leads to a growing number of health care gaps.
