Klingsor Syndrome: Genital Self-Mutilation in a Psychotic Patient.

Self-mutilation attempts are common in psychiatric practice. One form of self-harm, genital self-mutilation (GSM), is less common but may have severe consequences. GSM acts can occur in different diagnoses such as personality disorders, substance abuse disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and psychotic disorders.

The kynurenine pathway (KP) and inflammation are substantial in depression pathogenesis. Although there is a crosstalk between the KP, inflammation, and neurotrophic factors, few studies examine these topics together. Novel medications may be developed by clarifying dysregulations related to inflammation, KP, and neurotrophic factors in treatment-resistant depression (TRD).

Need for Ethnic and Population Diversity in Psychosis Research.

This article aims to evaluate "racial", ethnic, and population diversity-or lack thereof-in psychosis research, with a particular focus on socio-environmental studies. Samples of psychosis research remain heavily biased toward Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic (WEIRD) societies. Furthermore, we often fail to acknowledge the lack of diversity, thereby implying that our findings can be generalized to all populations regardless of their social, ethnic, and cultural background.
