Background: Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is highly prevalent in the United States, with darker-skinned patients (DSP) exhibiting lower incidence but increased morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study is to elucidate NMSC disparities between DSP (Fitzpatrick skin phototype IV or more) and lighter-skinned patients (LSP, Fitzpatrick skin phototype III or less), focusing on surgical features of non-Mohs micrographic surgery-treated NMSC.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included LSP and DSP diagnosed with either basal cell carcinoma (BCC) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in an academic dermatology setting.

Objective: Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is defined as an estimated fetal weight (EFW) or abdominal circumference (AC) <10th percentile (%ile) for gestational age (GA). An EFW <3rd %ile for GA is considered severe FGR (sFGR). It remains unknown if fetuses with isolated AC <3rd %ile should be considered sFGR.

Objective: Cardiometabolic risk factors have been shown to decrease biologic efficacy in patients treated for inflammatory conditions. The purpose of this systematic review is to provide a qualitative evaluation of studies investigating biologic response among psoriasis patients with cardiometabolic comorbidities.

Methods: A comprehensive review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Guidelines for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines to screen for studies including patients with cardiometabolic risk factors receiving biologic therapy for psoriasis.

Performing artists, such as dancers, singers, actors and musicians, rely on their physical bodies to successfully execute their artforms. However, literature regarding dermatologic conditions that impact dancers is lacking. An anonymous REDCap secure survey was distributed by email to Dance Majors, Dance Minors, and Dance Instructors/Professors at five Virginia undergraduate institutions.

Background: Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD) can be treated with topical steroids, antibiotics, and invasive surgical procedures. Since sweating often exacerbates HHD lesions, the use of onabotulinumtoxin A could serve as an adjunctive treatment.

Objective: The goal of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of onabotulinumtoxin A for the treatment of HHD.

Secondary syphilis typically presents with macular, maculopapular or papular lesions, sometimes with systemic symptoms; however, there are some less common cutaneous presentations which can result in several differential diagnoses. We report the case of a 25-year-old man with the recent onset of a symmetric eruption of grouped follicular papules, for which syphilis was not originally considered. Histopathology revealed non-caseating granulomas with a lichenoid infiltrate.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, inflammatory condition associated with numerous comorbidities, but there has been no broad-spectrum investigation into the dermatological comorbidities that are associated with HS using nationally representative data. We therefore analysed the 2016-2018 National Inpatient Sample for adult patients with and without HS and used multivariable logistic regression to determine correlations between HS and 25 dermatological conditions, adjusting for age, ethnicity and race, sex and insurance type. As seen previously, HS is more likely to affect women and Black people.

Background: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a disorder in which the tempo of disease progression is highly variable, and prognostic markers that can be utilized at diagnosis are regarded as clinically important. Currently, there are several prognostic factors, such as immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgVH) mutational status, and ZAP-70 protein expression in neoplastic B-cells, that have demonstrated significant discriminative power in the prognostication of CLL. They are, however, largely unavailable in the routine diagnostic laboratory setting.

Objective: We aimed to ascertain the extent of mental health problems in rural communities of southwest Queensland.

Methods: Twelve workshops were conducted within this region, asking community members about the issues which were affecting their mental health, the gaps in services and facilities, and suggestions as to how to strengthen their capacity to deal with mental health problems.

Results: The participants highlighted the higher cost of living through increased rental and goods and services costs.

Background: Before 1971, several million women were exposed in utero to diethylstilbestrol (DES) given to their mothers to prevent pregnancy complications. Several adverse outcomes have been linked to such exposure, but their cumulative effects are not well understood.

Methods: We combined data from three studies initiated in the 1970s with continued long-term follow-up of 4653 women exposed in utero to DES and 1927 unexposed controls.

WT1 levels may be a useful predictor of leukemia free survival (LFS) following treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We report a retrospective study in which levels of WT1 expression from patients with de novo AML were measured from bone marrow and peripheral blood at diagnosis, post-induction, post-consolidation and relapse. We demonstrate that higher levels of WT1 in peripheral blood at diagnosis are associated with poorer LFS independent of age and cytogenetic risk-group (n=85, p=0.
