Beef production in Uruguay is based on pasture (~85%) or concentrate (~15%), resulting in differences in meat quality. The objective of this study was to compare the oxidative stability and color of beef from these two systems during refrigerated retail display. For these purposes, the muscle was removed from ten Aberdeen Angus steers raised and fed on pasture (130 days prior to slaughter) and from another ten steers fed concentrate (100 days prior to slaughter), sliced.

The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of chilled (CH, 120 d) and chilled-then-frozen (CHF, 28 d + 92 d) storage conditions of beef vacuum packaged (VP) and vacuum packaged with antimicrobial (VPAM) on meat quality, oxidative status and microbial loads. Treatments resulted from the combination of storage condition and packaging type: VP + CH, VP + CHF, VPAM + CH and VPAM + CHF.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of ossiculoplasty via a minimally invasive endoscopic transtympanic approach (ETTA).
Case Series: We investigated the exposure of target structures (incus and stapes) on 4 human temporal bones by placing an endoscope into the middle ear cleft through the 4 tympanic quadrants. Then, on 3 additional specimens, we performed an incudostapedial disjunction and repaired it with a drop of hydroxyapatite cement via ETTA.
We evaluated a combination of two temperatures and two packaging materials for long-term storage of vacuum-packaged (VP) beef striploins. Microbial populations and microbiome composition were monitored during refrigerated storage (120 days between 0-1.5 °C) and refrigerated-then-frozen storage (28 days between 0-1.

Evolutionary algorithms (EA) can explore a large set of potential solutions in a stochastic manner to approach the optimum of a minimization problem. The objective of this study was to develop and evaluate an EA-based protocol to modify the default frequency settings of a MAP (fMAP) of the CI in patients with bimodal hearing.

The long-term functional success of implant treatment depends on the stability of the crestal bone around the implant platform. The esthetic result is achieved by adequate quality and quantity of soft tissue in the peri-implant area. The soft tissue creates the buffer area that ensures the mechanical and biological protection of the underlying bone.

Osseointegrated implantology initially concerned fully edentulous patients, then in time involved partially edentulous patients, and finally, has developed to include patients with single teeth missing on healed ridges and immediate implant placement after extraction. Thus, it was within a normal range of evidence to place implants in adolescents with congenital agenesis or prone to accidents or young adults under 30 after failure of a conservative dental treatment. However, over time the dental profession came to realize that this treatment modality was vulnerable to complications induced by maxillary/mandibular anterior growth with these patients.

Maternal undernutrition increased oxidative and reduced glycolytic fibers in all muscles (P ≤ 0.01).

The nutria is farmed in many countries mainly for its pelt through selected animals called nutria "mutations", with different kinds of fur color and, up until now, nutria meat has been considered as a by-product. However, taking into account the growing interest of consumers to access novel and exotic meat, nutria meat could be proposed as an attractive and nutritional delicacy.

The total glucose content in 100 g of raw pulp was, for Arapey, 17.7 g; Beauregard, 13.

Steaming increased the content of β-carotene extracted from "CRS" and Brasilia (29% and 75%) and decreased the content of β-carotene extracted from "CRS" by 23% in "Rodríguez." In addition, steaming caused a loss of Ca (21%) but did not change the amount of Mg and Zn.

Because of its content in highly valuable nutrients such as iron, zinc, selenium, fatty acids, and vitamins, meat is a unique and necessary food for the human diet in order to secure a long and healthy life, without nutritional deficiencies. Beef and lamb production systems based on temperate or tropical grasslands show interesting and, in some cases, a differential content in minerals, fatty acids and vitamins.

Furthermore, the content of heme-Fe was determined in the same muscles. The H had a lower content of Cu and a higher content of Fe.

The recession of the gingival margin is becoming a more prominent condition in the oral situation of many patients and should be treated at its earliest detection. The multifactorial etiology, decision modality, and current trends in the treatment of gingival recession are discussed in this article. The surgical technique of choice depends on several factors, but among the different surgical protocols available, the clinician should select one that will minimize surgical trauma and achieve predictable esthetic results.
