Knowledge and misconceptions of Saudi women about sexually transmitted infections.

Background: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are increasingly becoming one of the most important health challenges , especially among women, as they bear long-term consequences such as infertility and cervical cancer owing to STIs. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and misconceptions of Saudi women about STIs.

Materials And Methods: A descriptive study was conducted among adult women attending the dermatology clinic at King Saud University Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for reasons other than STIs.

The effect of menstrual cycle on laser induced hyperpigmentation.

Background And Objective: Laser induced post inflammatory hyperpigmentation PIH, is a complication seen mostly in dark skinned patients, it is not known whether giving the laser treatment at specific menstrual period days, may predispose to PIH.

Methods: Seven volunteers underwent fixed fractionated CO2 laser treatments at four predetermined days spanning the menstrual cycle.

Results: Two volunteers developed hypopigmentation while the rest had hyperpigmentation.

Background: It was found that acetylcholine concentration increased with a significantly reduced expression of acetylcholinesterase in vitiliginous patches that return to normal upon repigmentation.

We report a 34 years old gentleman who was referred to us with multiple brown spots on the palms, soles and scalp. He had those three months prior to being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. His past history includes both Evan's syndrome and membranoproilferative glomerulonephritis treated by mycophenolate mofetil (MMF).
