Background: Ventricular tachycardia ablation (VTA) is an important treatment option for ventricular tachycardia, with increasing use across all age groups. However, age-related differences in outcomes remain a concern.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate age-related trends in VTA procedures and their associated adverse events across the United States from 2011 to 2021.

Background/objective: Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is an uncommon thyroid cancer (TC), rarely found in hyperfunctioning goiter.

Case Report: We present a case of a woman treated for breast carcinoma (BCA) found to have a benign hyperfunctioning nodular goiter, its likely transformation to MTC, and its treatment. Family history revealed papillary thyroid cancer in her nephew.

Efficacy and Safety of Radiation Segmentectomy with Y Resin Microspheres for Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Background Limited data are available on radiation segmentectomy (RS) for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using yttrium 90 (Y) resin microsphere doses determined by using a single-compartment medical internal radiation dosimetry (MIRD) model. Purpose To evaluate the efficacy and safety of RS treatment of HCC with Y resin microspheres using a single-compartment MIRD model and correlate posttreatment dose with outcomes. Materials and Methods This retrospective single-center study included adult patients with HCC who underwent RS with Y resin microspheres between July 2014 and December 2022.

Plasticity and structural alterations of mitochondria and sarcoplasmic organelles in muscles of mice deficient in α-dystrobrevin, a component of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex.

The dystrophin-glycoprotein complex (DGC) plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of the plasma membrane and the neuromuscular junction. In this study, we investigated the impact of the deficiency of α-dystrobrevin (αdbn), a component of the DGC, on the homeostasis of intracellular organelles, specifically mitochondria and the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). In αdbn deficient muscles, we observed a significant increase in the membrane-bound ATP synthase complex levels, a marker for mitochondria in oxidative muscle fiber types compared to wild-type.

Association between Patient Experience Scores and Low Utilization of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Treatment in the United States: A Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results-Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Analysis (SEER-CAHPS).

Purpose: To study the experiences of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) contributing to treatment discrepancy in the United States.

Materials And Methods: Using Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results data from National Cancer Institute (NCI), Medicare (2002-2015) beneficiaries with HCC who completed a Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey were included. Six CAHPS items (3 global scores: global care rating [GCR], primary doctor rating [PDR], and specialist rating [SR]; 3 composite scores: getting needed care [GNC], getting care quickly [GCQ], and doctor communication [DC]) assessed patient experience.

Method: A systematic search with no start date restrictions was conducted. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to assess the quality of included RCTs.

Clinical Practice Issues for Liver Transplantation in COVID-19 Recovered Recipients.

The ongoing burden of COVID-19 in persons with end stage liver failure necessitates the development of sound and rational policies for organ transplantation in this population. Following our initial experience with two COVID-19 recovered recipients who died shortly after transplant, we adjusted our center policies, re-evaluated outcomes, and retrospectively analyzed the clinical course of the subsequent seven COVID-19 recovered recipients. There were two early deaths and 5 successful outcomes.

Methods And Results: In this study, transcriptional variation of eight OsGLP genes (OsGLP3-6, OsGLP4-1, OsGLP8-4, OsGLP8-7, OsGLP8-10, OsGLP8-11 and OsGLP8-12) was analyzed in leaves and roots of two economically important Indica rice cultivars, KS282 and Super Basmati, under salt and drought stress at early seedling stage.

The genus L., of the family Oleaceae, includes many species occurring in the wild, or cultivated worldwide. A preliminary investigation based on inter-simple sequence repeats (ISSR) was performed to assess the genetic diversity among 28 accessions, representing nine species of from various regions, representing a range of altitudes in Pakistan.

Introduction: Lenalidomide use in nearly all induction regimens for multiple myeloma (MM) has led to the treatment of lenalidomide-refractory disease becoming one of the most important clinical questions in its treatment. Given the lack of direct comparisons of treatment regimens for lenalidomide-refractory MM, we used a systematic review to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that included lenalidomide-refractory subgroup analysis.

Methods: We performed a systematic review to identify RCTs for MM that enrolled patients with lenalidomide-refractory disease, then performed a network meta-analysis (NMA) using random effects model to compare regimens.

Comparative palynology and taxonomic implication of Jasminum L. (Oleaceae) species from Pakistan on the bases of scanning electron microscopy.

Jasminum L. is the largest genus containing ~200 species found wild mostly in the tropical regions of the world. The comparative palynological study of nine Pakistani Jasminum species with SEM showed zonocolpus, trilobate, and tricolpus pollen types with simple endocolpus apertures which are plesiomorphic and conserved in the Jasminum species.

Emphysematous Gastritis in a Transplant Recipient With Infection.

We present the first documented case in a transplant recipient, who underwent a simultaneous liver kidney transplant. Computed tomography showed emphysematous gastritis, endoscopy revealed gastric necrosis, and microscopy confirmed the diagnosis.

Using oral anticoagulants among chronic kidney disease patients to prevent recurrent venous thromboembolism: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) increases the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) among affected patients. Vitamin K antagonists (VKA) and warfarin remains the main stay of its treatment.
