Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a hereditary disease characterized by the progression of respiratory disorders, especially in adult patients. The purpose of the study was to identify volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as predictors of respiratory dysfunction, chronic respiratory infections of , , , and VOCs associated with severe genotype and highly effective modulator treatment (HEMT). Exhaled breath samples from 102 adults with CF were analyzed using PTR-TOF-MS, obtained during a forced expiratory maneuver and normal quiet breathing.

Along with the known risk factors of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) constituting metabolic syndrome (MS), the gut microbiome and some of its metabolites, in particular trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO), are actively discussed. A prolonged stay under natural hypoxic conditions significantly and multi-directionally changes the ratio of gut microbiome strains and their metabolites in feces and blood, which is the basis for using hypoxia preconditioning for targeted effects on potential risk factors of CVD. A prospective randomized study included 65 patients (32 females) with MS and optimal medical therapy.

Possible triggers and genetic markers involved in pathogenesis of amiodarone-induced thyrotoxicosis (AIT) or amiodarone-induced hypothyroidism (AIH) are currently unknown. This study aimed to analyze the association between polymorphisms in the genes involved in thyroid hormones biosynthesis and metabolism. Thirty-nine consecutive patients with confirmed type 2 amiodarone-induced thyrotoxicosis were enrolled; 39 patients on the same therapy for at least 6 months without thyroid pathology were included as a control group.

Background: Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is being evaluated as a possible alternative to exercise training to improve functional capacity in severely deconditioned patients with heart failure (HF). However, there is insufficient data on delayed effects of EMS starting early after decompensation. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of a short inpatient EMS intervention in severely deconditioned patients with HF on functional capacity and quality of life (QoL) over a follow-up period of 1 month.

Background: Screening for atrial fibrillation has the potential to significantly reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. However, questions in regard to how to screen, on whom to screen, and the optimal setting of screening remain unanswered.

Objective: To assess the applicability of a federal cardiac monitoring for atrial fibrillation (AF) screening and remote heart rhythm monitoring in patients at high cardiovascular risk in a mixed urban and rural population in Russia.

Background: Until recently, Russia did not utilize noninvasive fractional flow reserve (FFR) assessment. We developed an automated algorithm for noninvasive assessment of FFR based on a one-dimensional (1D) mathematical modeling.

Objective: The research aims to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of this algorithm.

Various types of sarcomas arise as a result of postradiation chronic fibrous pericarditis. A primary undifferentiated spindle cell pericardial sarcoma is a rare type of sarcoma after radiotherapy. The risk of sarcoma increases with time after treatment of cancer.

Ageing is considered to be the major and non-modifiable risk factor for the development of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. During ageing, the vascular system undergoes structural and functional alterations, including endothelial dysfunction, thickening of the vascular wall, reduced distensibility and increased arterial stiffness. Vascular rigidity results from fibrosis and remodelling of the extracellular matrix, processes that are associated with ageing and are amplified in hypertension.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) 3b - 5 stages and the newly diagnosed sustained reduction in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) <30 ml / min / 1.73 m2 in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) in real clinical practice, as well as the features of their anticoagulant therapy.

Materials And Methods:  Retrospectively, data of all discharge epicrisis from cardiological departments of five Moscow hospitals from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017 were analyzed.

Unlabelled: The aim of the present study is to determine the prognostic value of GFR reduction according to the CKD-EPI formula, taking into account blood creatinine and a formula that simultaneously takes into account creatinine and cystatin C in patients who were hospitalized for the first time due to decompensation of chronic heart failure with a preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFSA) observation within 24 months.

Materials And Methods: The study included 117 patients (women - 65.8%, mean age 71.

Aim: To develop an algorithm for optimization of rate-adaptive pacing settings in heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and permanent cardiac pacing.

Methods: This is a prospective randomized controlled study. A total of 54 patients with HFpEF, permanent atrial fibrillation (AF), and VVIR pacing were randomized to an intervention group with optimization of rate-adaptation parameters by using cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and pacemaker stress echocardiography (PASE), and to a control group with conventional programming.

Exhaled breath analysis is a novel tool for diagnostics of different diseases. Taking into account the secretory function of the lungs, the composition of exhaled breath is different in physiological and pathological conditions. In this review we consider of some substances which content vary in cardiovascular diseases - pentane, isoprene, carbon monoxide and trimethylamine.

Determining the prognosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is problematic, as the ejection fraction cannot be used. Formulae that estimate glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) may be potential prognosticators for this condition, since renal dysfunction is a well-known predictor of poor outcomes of all forms of heart failure. A prospective observational study of 117 HFpEF patients (average age 71.

Until today, there are no universally accepted methods for detection of unstable atherosclerotic plaques, even though many recent studies were devoted to this issue. In this article we present modern possibilities of computed tomography in visualization of atherosclerotic coronary lesion, including the detection of unstable lesions, whot in turn, can help in diagnosing subclinical exacerbation of ischemic heart disease and in the stratification of risks of acute coronary events.
