This article argues for a pluralization of the "platform capitalism" framework, suggesting we should think instead in terms of "platform capitalisms." This pluralization opens the way to a better account of how platforms work in different geocultural contexts, with our focus being on China, India and Japan. The article first outlines several roles the state has taken on in mediating platform capitalisms.

It has been shown that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guidance versus computed tomography (CT) guidance for aggressive margin-reduction (AMR) for stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) in prostate cancer reduces acute toxicity, but the longer-term benefits are unknown. We performed a secondary analysis of MIRAGE, a phase 3 randomized clinical trial of MRI-guided SBRT for prostate cancer, to determine whether AMR with MRI guidance significantly reduced 2-yr physician-scored or patient-reported toxic effects in comparison to CT guidance. The cumulative incidence of 2-yr physician-scored toxicity, defined as grade ≥2 genitourinary (GU) and gastrointestinal (GI) toxic effects according to Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events v4.

Introduction: Sickle cell disease is ameliorated and perhaps can be 'cured' if enough fetal hemoglobin is present in most erythrocytes. Hydroxyurea, which increases fetal hemoglobin levels, is widely available and effective, especially in children. Nevertheless, only cell-based gene therapy can achieve a 'curative' fetal hemoglobin threshold.

Rabex-5 (also called RabGEF1), a protein originally characterized for its Rab5 GEF function, also has an A20-like E3 ubiquitin ligase domain. We and others reported that Rabex-5 E3 activity promotes Ras mono- and di-ubiquitination to inhibit Ras signaling in Drosophila and mammals. Subsequently, we reported that Rabex-5 inhibits Notch signaling in the Drosophila hematopoietic system.

Background: Lung cancer screening (LCS) can reduce lung cancer mortality but has potential harms for patients. A shared decision-making (SDM) conversation about LCS is required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for LCS reimbursement. To overcome barriers to SDM in primary care, this protocol describes a telehealth decision coaching and navigation intervention for LCS in primary care clinics delivered by patient navigators.

Background: Exercise anxiety is a novel mechanism related to non-adherence to exercise and lifestyle physical activity. We developed a cognitive-behavioral treatment, Behavioral Exposure For Interoceptive Tolerance (BE-FIT), which is a manualized, values-based exposure intervention designed to target exercise anxiety that is delivered as a supplement to outpatient cardiac rehabilitation (CR).

Method: We describe a Stage II randomized controlled trial (RCT) to test BE-FIT, compared to a Health Education Control (HEC) intervention on exercise and physical activity outcomes at end-of-treatment (EOT) and follow-ups (Weeks 12, 18, and 24), and evaluate mechanisms of change (i.

Introduction: Accelerating smoking cessation, particularly among young adults, is a national priority for decreasing tobacco-related disease. Healthcare providers play a critical role in delivering tobacco treatment interventions to this population. This study examined associations of demographic and tobacco use characteristics with young adults' self-reported past-year clinical encounters to identify opportunities to facilitate cessation.

Systemic treatments for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) include androgen deprivation therapy, androgen receptor pathway inhibitors, chemotherapy, and radiopharmaceuticals, all of which have associated toxicity. Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT allows for higher sensitivity in detecting metastatic disease than is possible with conventional imaging. We hypothesized that PSMA PET/CT-guided, metastasis-directed radiotherapy may offer durable disease control with low toxicity rates in patients with mCRPC who have a limited number of metastases.

Sickle cell disease is a growing health burden afflicting millions around the world. Clinical observation and laboratory studies have shown that the severity of sickle cell disease is ameliorated in individuals who have elevated levels of fetal hemoglobin. Additional pharmacologic agents to induce sufficient fetal hemoglobin to diminish clinical severity is an unmet medical need.

Purpose: To characterize the relationship between Decipher genomic classifier scores and prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT)-based metastatic spread.

Materials And Methods: We identified patients from four institutions who underwent PSMA PET/CT scans pretreatment for primary staging or postradical prostatectomy (RP) for suspected recurrence and had Decipher transcriptomic data available from biopsy or RP specimens. PSMA PET/CT-based patterns of spread were classified as localized (miT + N0M0) or nonlocalized (miN1M0 or miM1a-c).

Traumatic ulcerative granuloma with stromal eosinophilia (TUGSE) is a reactive and chronic ulcerative lesion that is most frequently found on the tongue. It appears as a large yellowish ulcer with elevated margins and central induration. TUGSEs exhibit a characteristic pattern of regression often spontaneously, following incisional biopsy, or after removal of the potential traumatic trigger.

Article Synopsis
  • Childhood exposure to radioactive iodine from the Chornobyl accident increases the risk of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), particularly in younger individuals.
  • A study of 428 PTC cases found that cervical lymph node metastases (cLNM) were more common in PTC with certain genetic fusions compared to mutations, and this frequency varied significantly by specific gene types.
  • Molecular profiling of the cLNM showed strong genetic concordance with primary PTCs and identified 17 differentially expressed genes, pointing to potential biological mechanisms in PTC metastasis that require further investigation.

Article Synopsis
  • Nearly all men with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer experience recurrence within 6 months after testosterone recovery when treated with intermittent androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
  • A clinical trial was conducted to see if adding dual androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPIs) and targeted radiotherapy could reduce recurrence rates in men with a specific type of metastasis after prior prostate surgery.
  • The trial included 28 men, and results showed that 50% maintained low prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels six months after testosterone recovery, indicating a potential benefit from this combined treatment approach, though further studies are needed.
