Enterococcus cecorum (EC) infection is an emerging endemic disease in UK and global broiler poultry with major economic impact and welfare concerns. There are significant research gaps with regards to EC pathogenesis, source of infection, transmission routes and early detection of disease, which this study aimed to address. In this prospective study, 725 environmental samples were collected from 4 broiler farms (A-D) the day before chick placement (d 1) and through the subsequent crop (d 7, 14, and 21).

Achieving large-scale electrochemical CO reduction to multicarbon products with high selectivity using membrane electrode assembly (MEA) electrolyzers in neutral electrolyte is promising for carbon neutrality. However, the unsatisfactory multicarbon products selectivity and unclear reaction mechanisms in an MEA have hindered its further development. Here, we report a strategy that manipulates the interfacial microenvironment of Cu nanoparticles in an MEA to suppress hydrogen evolution reaction and enhance CH conversion.

We compare the case log distribution residents completed during their chief year to those completed by these graduates in their first 2 years in independent practice.

Methods: Resident chief year case logs from 10 institutions were analyzed across 4 categories of index procedures: (1) general urology, (2) endourology, (3) reconstructive urology, and (4) urologic oncology.

Mental states via possessive predication: the grammar of possessive experiencer complex predicates in Persian.

Persian possesses a number of stative complex predicates with 'to have' that express certain kinds of mental state. I propose that these be given a formal semantic treatment involving possession of a portion of an abstract quality by an individual, as in the analysis of property concept lexemes due to Francez and Koontz-Garboden (Language 91(3):533-563, 2015; Natural Language and Linguistic Theory 34:93-106, 2016; Semantics and morphosyntactic variation: Qualities and the grammar of property concepts, Oxford University Press, 2017). Augmented with an analysis of prepositional phrases introducing the target of the mental state and an approach to gradability in terms of measure functions (Wellwood in Measuring predicates, PhD dissertation, University of Maryland, College Park, 2014), the analysis explains various properties of possessive experiencer complex predicates, including the behavior of target phrases, the ability of the non-verbal element to be modified by a range of adjectives, the direct participation of the non-verbal element in comparative constructions, and the ability of degree expressions to modify both the non-verbal element and the VP containing the complex predicate.

Geographical epidemiology of Hyalomma anatolicum and Rhipicephalus microplus in Pakistan: A systematic review.

The livestock sector contributes almost 11% of Pakistan's GDP and is crucial to 35 million people's livelihoods. Ticks are a major economic threat, as over 80% of livestock, such as bovines, are tick-infested with Hyalomma and Rhipicephalus tick species. Hyalomma anatolicum and Rhipicephalus microplus are the most common tick species collected from livestock, transmitting primarily anaplasmosis, babesiosis, and theileriosis.

Here, we provide a review of the natural history and behavior of burying beetles of the genus to provide the groundwork for comparative work that showcases their remarkable behavioral and ecological diversity.

Long-term surveillance study of rituximab originator treated patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) or microscopic polyangiitis (MPA).

Objectives: Rituximab is used for remission induction and the prevention of relapse in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV). This study evaluated the incidence of safety events and compared time to first serious adverse event (SAE) between a rituximab cohort and a cohort treated with non-rituximab therapies in a real-life setting.

Methods: Rituximab surveillance study in vasculitis was a retrospective observational study of patients with AAV who received rituximab (MabThera) or other treatments between 2003 and 2017 at a specialist vasculitis clinic.

Designing Patient-Reported Measures of Fertility: Cognitive Interview Findings from Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer.

Fertility concerns (FC) are central to the well-being of many adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. Clinical conversations about FC and fertility preservation are suboptimal, increasing patient distress. The goal of this project was to establish content validity and comprehensibility of self-report questions on FCs for AYAs with cancer.

Abundance, distribution, and dynamics of Anopheles species (Diptera: Culicidae) in Iowa, United States.

Malaria was once endemic in the United States prior to its elimination in 1951. However, due to consistent introductions of travel-associated malaria cases and the presence of several native Anopheles species (Diptera: Culicidae) that are competent vectors of malaria, the potential for local (autochthonous) malaria transmission remains a persistent threat in the United States. While several intermittent cases of local malaria transmission have occurred in the United States in the decades since elimination, the emergence of autochthonous transmission in 4 states in 2023 demonstrates the continued risk for future outbreaks.

Structural Degeneration of a 9-Year-Old Tendyne: Treatment by Transfemoral Transseptal SAPIEN in Tendyne.

An 83-year-old woman presented 9 years after Tendyne transcatheter mitral valve replacement with acute severe decompensated heart failure. Transesophageal echocardiography reported severe transvalvular mitral regurgitation caused by degenerated Tendyne leaflets. A transfemoral transseptal valve-in-Tendyne procedure using a 26-mm SAPIEN device resulted in significant mitral regurgitation reduction and symptomatic recovery.
