Purpose To develop a deep learning tool for the automatic segmentation of the spinal cord and intramedullary lesions in spinal cord injury (SCI) on T2-weighted MRI scans. Materials and Methods This retrospective study included MRI data acquired between July 2002 and February 2023. The data consisted of T2-weighted MRI scans acquired using different scanner manufacturers with various image resolutions (isotropic and anisotropic) and orientations (axial and sagittal).

Transcription factor 4 (TCF4) has been implicated in a range of neuropsychiatric disorders, including major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Mutations or deletions in TCF4 cause Pitt-Hopkins syndrome (PTHS), a rare neurodevelopmental disorder. A detailed understanding of its spatial expression across the developing brain is necessary for comprehending TCF4 biology and, by extension, to develop effective treatments for TCF4-associated disorders.

Diagnostic Accuracy of CT for the Detection of Hepatic Steatosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background CT plays an important role in the opportunistic identification of hepatic steatosis. CT performance for steatosis detection has been inconsistent across various studies, and no clear guidelines on optimum thresholds have been established. Purpose To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess CT diagnostic accuracy in hepatic steatosis detection and to determine reliable cutoffs for the commonly mentioned measures in the literature.

Older adults who use drugs: an examination of policy and preparedness in nursing facilities.

Currently, over 5.7 million adults 65+ are projected to have a SUD, and the number of fatal overdose deaths among older adults is rising in both community and facility settings. This exploratory study involved surveys of 37 nursing facilities (NF) in Kentucky in order to identify current admission practices to screen, prevent, and/or address resident substance use.

Background: The health issues experienced by older people can often be severe and complex, and an increasing number are using residential aged care services to meet their care needs. High-quality nursing care is fundamental to the health and safety of aged care residents and is contingent on nurses' accurate assessment, informed decision-making, and delivery of timely interventions. However, the role of the aged care nurse is often challenging, impeded by factors such as understaffing, high workloads, and a lack of access to clinical infrastructure and resources.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatographic (HPTLC) method for simultaneous determination of ceftriaxone and ceftriaxone e-isomer in powder for injection formulation. Ceftriaxone sodium injection is an antibiotic that used globally. It has Z/E geometrical conformation, in which ceftriaxone sodium and 3 ene-isomer have Z- conformation while (E)-isomer has E- conformation and the potential toxicity of ceftriaxone (E)-isomer has been reported.

Stoichiometry of HIV-1 Envelope Glycoprotein Protomers with Changes That Stabilize or Destabilize the Pretriggered Conformation.

During human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) entry into host cells, binding to the receptors, CD4 and CCR5/CXCR4, triggers conformational changes in the metastable envelope glycoprotein (Env) trimer ((gp120-gp41)). CD4 binding induces Env to make transitions from its pretriggered conformation (PTC) to more "open" conformations that are sensitive to inhibition by antibodies, CD4-mimetic compounds (CD4mcs) and exposure to cold. Changes in functional membrane Envs have been identified that either stabilize or destabilize the PTC.

Preeclampsia (PE) is characterized by de novo hypertension (HTN) and is often associated with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Hallmarks of PE are placental ischemia, decreased nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability, oxidative stress (OS), and organ damage in the kidneys and brain. This study aims to characterize a new model of PE using pregnant IUGR rats from hypertensive placental ischemic dams.

A Ducted, Biomimetic Nipple Improves Aspects of Infant Feeding Physiology and Performance in an Animal Model.

Breastfeeding is widely regarded as the optimal form of feeding infants, as it provides both nutritional and physiological benefits. For example, breastfed infants generate greater intraoral suction and have higher amplitude muscle activities compared to bottle-fed infants, with downstream implications for motor function, development, and health. One mechanism that might explain these physiological differences is the structure of the nipple an infant is feeding on.

Search for the Exclusive W Boson Hadronic Decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ with the ATLAS Detector.

A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

Background: Social constructs like race can affect how patients are perceived and impact care. This study investigated whether mentions of race in notes for critically ill patients differed according to patients' race.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included intensive care unit notes for adults (≥18 years old) admitted to any of 6 intensive care units at University of California, San Francisco, from 2012 through 2020.

UK Foot and Ankle Thromboembolism (UK-FATE).

Aims: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a potential complication of foot and ankle surgery. There is a lack of agreement on contributing risk factors and chemical prophylaxis requirements. The primary outcome of this study was to analyze the 90-day incidence of symptomatic VTE and VTE-related mortality in patients undergoing foot and ankle surgery and Achilles tendon (TA) rupture.

Improvements in Forward Bending Are Related to Improvements in Pain and Disability During Cognitive Functional Therapy for People With Chronic Low Back Pain.

To investigate whether improvements in forward bending were related to improvements in pain and disability in people with chronic low back pain (CLBP) who were undergoing Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT). Telephone Survey-Reported Perceptions of Telehealth Visits Among Black and Non-Black Patients Diagnosed With Cancer.

Purpose: Empirical evidence underscores both benefits of telehealth visits and persistent disparities in use for Black adults. Guided by the Technology Acceptance Model, we evaluated perceptions regarding telehealth visits among Black and Non-Black adults receiving cancer care from two academic health systems.

Methods: Between April 2022 and October 2023, a survey was conducted among adult patients treated for cancer in the past 3 years.

Trust and confidence in telehealth-delivered services: a nation-wide cross-sectional study.

Sustaining telehealth uptake hinges on people's desire and ability to effectively engage with it. We explored trust and confidence in telehealth delivered by medical and allied health using cross-sectional survey of 1,116 Australians. Descriptive analysis presented factors that would improve trust and confidence in telehealth cross-tabulated with video consultation experience.

Risk-Benefit Analysis of Novel Treatments for Patients with Generalized Myasthenia Gravis.

Introduction: This study used network meta-analysis (NMA) to inform and compare the number needed to treat (NNT), number needed to harm (NNH), and cost per improved outcome (CPIO) associated with more recently approved treatments for anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody-positive (anti-AChR Ab+) generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG).

Methods: Clinical trials of neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) inhibitors, efgartigimod intravenous (IV) and rozanolixizumab, and complement inhibitors, ravulizumab and zilucoplan, versus placebo (with background conventional treatment) were included in the primary NMA to compare efficacy and safety outcomes. The outputs from the NMAs were used to estimate NNT and NNH of each treatment versus placebo.
