Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) are performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) that stimulate anabolism, increase muscle mass and strength and promote recovery from exercise. The use of SARMs in sports is considered doping and is strictly prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA). To monitor the abuse of SARMs in sports, it is essential to develop advanced, selective and sensitive analytical methods that provide reliable results.

Ostarine is frequently misused as a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) in sports. Consequently, there is a pressing need for reliable and simple approaches to monitor its presence in biological systems. In this work, we developed a two-dimensional analytical method utilizing online solid-phase extraction (online-SPE) in conjunction with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (triple quadrupole).

Fast and Sensitive Screening of Oxandrolone and Its Major Metabolite 17-Epi-Oxandrolone in Human Urine by UHPLC-MS/MS with On-Line SPE Sample Pretreatment.

Oxandrolone, a synthetic testosterone analog, is used for the treatment of several diseases associated with weight loss. Unfortunately, oxandrolone is abused by many athletes and bodybuilders due to its strong anabolic effect. We have developed and validated a highly sensitive and rapid on-line SPE-UHPLC-MS/MS method for the determination of oxandrolone and simultaneous identification of its major metabolite 17-epi-oxandrolone in urine matrices.

Bladder evacuating capacity after renal transplantation.

Using the radioisotope method, we examined the residual bladder volume in 30 persons without kidney and urinary tract disease, 71 patients with recurrent urinary tract infections and 56 renal transplant patients. The results showed significantly higher bladder volumes in patients with urinary tract infection than in transplant patients without urinary tract infection, non-transplant patients with urinary tract infections and subjects without urinary tract disease. Increased residual bladder volume, which is a manifestation of disturbed bladder evacuating capacity, is not related to age, the length of the postoperative period, the presence of vesicoureteral reflux, or the pretransplantation level of diuresis.

Possibilities of dynamic scintigraphy in renal allografts.

Dynamic scintigraphy, a non-invasive method, is suitable due to its sparing procedure in particular in clinical conditions where more pretentious examination methods are contraindicated or risky. [Ourexperiences with clinical methods for localization of urinary tract infections].

On 35 patients with chronical relapsing urinary tact infections with different forms of the clinical course 3 localisation methods for the differentiation of infections of the upper and lower urinary tract, respectively, were evaluated. The results have shown that the bladder washout method was more reliable than the new kidney washout method.
