Neprilysin (NEP) is a neutral endopeptidase, important for the degradation of amyloid beta (Aβ) peptides and other neuropeptides, including enkephalins, substance P, and bradykinin, in the brain, that influences various physiological processes such as blood pressure homeostasis, pain perception, and neuroinflammation. NEP breaks down Aβ peptides into smaller fragments, preventing the development of detrimental aggregates such as Aβ plaques. NEP clears Aβ plaques predominantly by enzymatic breakdown in the extracellular space.

The current therapeutic options for Mpox are limited, with the WHO temporarily recommending smallpox drugs. This suggests an urgent need to discover new therapeutics that may target both viral and host markers involved in the virus life cycle.

The virus, transmitted mainly by sand flies, has led to multiple outbreaks with high mortality rates, particularly in rural and resource-limited settings. CHPV infection is characterized by rapid disease progression, with symptoms ranging from fever and seizures to coma and death, often within 24 to 48 h of onset.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary health care centre in South India from 2007 to 2020 with disseminated rhinosporidiosis. Twelve patients with multiple sites of involvement like the nose, nasopharynx, oropharynx, larynx, lacrimal sac and skin were included in the study.
Molecular junctions (MJs) exhibit distinct charge transport properties and have the potential to become the next generation of electronic devices. Advancing molecular electronics for practical uses, such as sensors, is crucial to propel its progress to the next level. In this review, we discussed how MJs can serve as a sensor for detecting a wide range of analytes with exceptional sensitivity and specificity.

Virus replication relies on various host factors and pathways, which also determine the virus's infectious potential. Nonetheless, achieving a comprehensive understanding of how the virus interacts with host cellular components is essential for developing effective therapeutic strategies.

The potential advantages of bi-radionuclide plaque could be of interest in context of ocular brachytherapy.
Purpose: The aim of the study is to evaluate the dosimetric advantages of a proposed bi-radionuclide plaque for two different designs, consisting of indigenous I seeds and Ru/Rh plaque, using Monte Carlo technique.
Many different risk stratification systems have been formulated for thyroid nodules, differing in their fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) indication, suggesting a lack of consensus around the world. This prospective study was conducted to find the best guideline for risk stratification, for a better malignancy yield, and with reduced rates of negative FNACs among three Thyroid Imaging, Reporting, and Data System (TIRADS) guidelines. A total of 625 thyroid nodules with conclusive FNAC or histopathological diagnosis were included in the study.

Nasopharyngeal tumors are rare, and schwannomas originating from this location are extremely uncommon. Schwannomas are tumors arising from the Schwann cells of peripheral nerve sheath which are neuroectodermal in origin. These are benign, slow growing, well-encapsulated tumors and are mostly seen in the head and neck region.

With the advances in critical care, the incidence of post intubation tracheal stenosis is increasing. Tracheal resection and anastomosis have been the gold standard for the management of grades III and IV stenosis. Scientific evidence from the literature on the determining factors and outcomes of surgery is not well described.

Methods: Retrospective single-center study in a tertiary care hospital of 12 eyes with choroidal melanoma in 12 Asian patients who underwent brachytherapy with Ocuprosta seeds fixed on non-collimated plaques and had a follow-up of at least 32 months (mean: 42.
Background: Saliva, an oral secretion is considered an essential biological modulator involved in maintaining oral homeostasis. Increased glucose levels in diabetic patients' saliva may have an impact on diversity of microbes. Comparing the salivary microflora of diabetic and non-diabetic cohorts will help in diagnosis and risk assessment of oral health complications.

Mucocele of the sphenoid sinus is one of the rare diseases which an ENT surgeon can encounter in a clinical setup. It can often present as a chronic headache. It can remain undiagnosed unless a symptom due to the compression effect of the mucocele, such as diminution of vision, ophthalmoplegia, or any intracranial complication, occurs.
