The Mycobacterium tuberculosis dihydrodipicolinate synthase (Mtb-dapA) is an essential gene. Mtb-DapA catalyzes the aldol condensation between pyruvate and L-aspartate-beta-semialdehyde (ASA) to yield dihydrodipicolinate. In this work we tested the inhibitory effects of structural analogues of pyruvate on recombinant Mtb-DapA (Mtb-rDapA) using a coupled assay with recombinant dihydrodipicolinate reductase (Mtb-rDapB).

Exploring the role of dietary factors in the development of breast cancer.

The aim of the current review is to assess the magnitude of the breast cancer, and to explore the contribution of different dietary constituents in both the causation and the prevention of the disease. An exhaustive search for all materials related to the topic was made in different search engines, including PubMed, World Health Organization Web site, and Google scholar, for a duration of 30 days (June 2014). Relevant documents, systematic reviews, technical publication series, research articles, books, and guidelines focusing on the association of dietary factors and breast cancer, published in 1998-2014 were included in the review.

Genetic portrait of Majhi tribe of Chhattisgarh, India based on 15 autosomal STRs and 23 Y-STRs.

BALB/c mice are highly susceptible, while C57BL/6 mice are more resistant to PVM. IL-12 was significantly more up-regulated in response to PVM infection in BALB/c than in C57BL/6 mice.

Difference in mononuclear cell cytokine profile of tuberculosis patients before and after treatment and its influence on in vitro multinucleate giant cell formation.

The present study focuses on correlation of in vitro multinucleate giant cell (MGC) forming ability with cytokine production in case of tuberculosis patients before and after treatment. In vitro MGC formation was carried out by treating monocytes with culture supernatant of Con A or PPD stimulated peripheral mononuclear cells. MGC formation was significantly lower for monocytes of untreated patients compared to control monocytes when incubated with respective autologous culture supernatant.

Establishing a deceased donor program in north Indian region: lessons learnt.

Introduction: Living-related donors are the source of almost all organ transplants in India. However, these donations fall far short of current needs, and there remains a huge disparity between demand and supply of organs.
