Initial experience of 980-nm diode laser treatment for recurrent non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.

Introduction: Laser ablation using a 980-nm wavelength diode laser, which is a new-generation laser, for recurrent bladder cancer is known to have a lower incidence of complications and recurrence than conventional transurethral resection of bladder tumor surgery. This is the first study to report the use of 980-nm diode laser ablation for recurrent non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer in Japan.

Case Presentation: A 73-year-old man underwent transurethral laser ablation for the treatment of recurrent non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.

In this two-arm parallel randomized-controlled trial, participants with insomnia symptoms and late chronotypes were recruited between October and November 2023. The duration of the intervention program was 4 weeks.

Methods: Between 2009 and 2015, 1171 patients underwent isolated bilateral ITA grafting for left-sided complete revascularization at 4 Japanese cardiac surgery centers: underwent in situ left ITA to the left anterior descending artery plus in situ right ITA to the left circumflex artery (LR group, n = 278), in situ right ITA to the left anterior descending artery plus in situ left ITA to the left circumflex artery (RL group, n = 665), and in situ left ITA to the left anterior descending artery plus free right ITA to the left circumflex artery (free group, n = 228).

We analyzed consecutive patients who underwent TAVR for severe aortic stenosis via the brachiocephalic artery (BCA) without sternotomy (TBc group, n = 10) and via the trans-ascending aortic (TAo group, n = 8). The median BCA diameter and distance between the access point and suprasternal notch or superior margin of the clavicle were 11.

Purpose: The efficacy of sleep extension therapy using a remote support system (SET-R) was investigated in university students with increased social jetlag (SJL).

Methods: For this two-arm parallel randomized controlled trial, we recruited Japanese university students with SJL ≥ 60 min. The SET-R provided an individualized sleep schedule for gradual sleep extension using email and sleep hygiene education, stimulus control therapy, and progressive muscle relaxation as web content.

Objective: The study objective was to investigate whether changes in metabolic phenotype affect the risk of cardiovascular events.

Methods: All 117,589 participants were included in this retrospective cohort study. The metabolic phenotypes of the participants were assessed at two points (the second evaluation was set 2 years after the first evaluation), and the incidence rate of cardiovascular events was observed for 11 years.

Reports have documented antimicrobial usage in aquaculture, and the aquatic ecosystem can be considered a genetic storage site for antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This study assessed the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among Gram-negative bacteria recovered from retail seafood in Hiroshima, Japan. A total of 412 bacteria were isolated and screened for the presence of β-lactamases, acquired carbapenemases, and mobile colistin-resistance () genes.

[Development and Usefulness of Support Package for Learning of Image Interpretation Assistance Using CT and MRI Image in Emergency Medicine].

The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced about the expansion of duties by the radiological technologists in team medical care in April, 2010, and the importance of image interpretation assistance by the radiological technologists became higher. In that respect, for improvement in ability of image interpretation assistance by the radiological technologists in emergency medicine, we developed a support package for learning of image interpretation assistance (support package) and evaluated the usefulness for learning of image interpretation assistance by questionnaires. The support package included digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) data of case, explainer video of urgent imaging findings, and DICOM viewer.
