A phenoxyacetate ester Schiff base lead compound 4a (ZINC20073984) was firstly discovered through molecular docking screening and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, which could be used as an α-glucosidase (PDB: 3A4A) inhibitor. Then a series of α-glucosidase inhibitors 4b-4r with novel structures were designed and synthesized with the lead ZINC20073984 as a template. The results of in vitro α-glucosidase inhibitory activity show that the synthesized phenoxyacetate ester Schiff base compounds 4e, 4o-4r (IC values range from 5.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is caused by the uncontrolled proliferation of breast epithelial cells followed by malignant transformation, and it has the highest incidence among female malignant tumors. The metastasis of BC occurs through direct and lymphatic spread. Although ocular metastasis is relatively rare, it is a good indicator of a worse prognosis.

Despite recent advances in H/D exchange, the effective deuteration of polyarenes remains challenging, due to their insolubility and hydrophobicity. This study presents a concept proofing of a mechanochemically facilitated direct H/D exchange. The silver-catalyzed deuteration of heteroarenes was promoted smoothly within 99 minutes of grinding, with heavy water as the deuterium source.

Aim: To examine the disparities in macular retinal vascular density between individuals with connective tissue disease-related interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD) and healthy controls (HCs) by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and to investigate the changes in microvascular density in abnormal eyes.

Methods: For a retrospective case-control study, a total of 16 patients (32 eyes) diagnosed with CTD-ILD were selected as the ILD group. The 16 healthy volunteers with 32 eyes, matched in terms of age and sex with the patients, were recruited as control group.

The solution-derived non-stoichiometric nickel oxide (NiO) is a promising hole-injecting material for stable quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). However, the carrier imbalance due to the misalignment of energy levels between the NiO and polymeric hole-transporting layers (HTLs) curtails the device efficiency. In this study, the modification of the NiO surface is investigated using either 3-cyanobenzoic acid (3-CN-BA) or 4-cyanobenzoic acid (4-CN-BA) in the QLED fabrication.

This study aims to investigate the effects of Linggui Zhugan Decoction(LGZGD) on myocardial fibrosis(MF) and the Lats1/Yap signaling pathway in mice after myocardial infarction(MI), exploring its role and mechanism in inhibiting MF. The MI-induced ischemic mouse model was established by left anterior descending coronary artery ligation, followed by continuous intervention for six weeks. Doppler ultrasound imaging-system of small animals was used to detect left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), left ventricular fractional shortening(LVFS), left ventricular internal diameter at end-systole(LVIDs), and left ventricular internal diameter at end-diastole(LVIDd).

Article Synopsis
  • Recent research highlights an increasing use of statistical process control in healthcare data analysis, particularly in cardiology, necessitating the development of new methodologies due to diverse variables.
  • The study utilized generalized additive models (GAMs) and two statistical methods—deviation (D) and Hotelling (T2)—to create control charts for monitoring strokes in patients, revealing that the T2 chart generally outperforms D in detecting medium-to-large process shifts.
  • The findings suggest that these advanced statistical tools can enhance healthcare performance monitoring by effectively analyzing complex relationships among various health factors.

Iron ion (Fe) detection is crucial for human health since it plays a crucial role in many physiological activities. In this work, a novel Schiff-base functionalized cyanine derivative (CyPy) was synthesized, which was successfully assembled on the surface of upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) through an amphiphilic polymer encapsulation method. In the as-designed nanoprobe, CyPy, a recognizer of Fe, is served as energy donor and β-NaYF:Yb,Er upconversion nanoparticles are adopted as energy acceptor.

Control charts help epidemiologists and healthcare professionals monitor disease incidence and prevalence in real time, preventing outbreaks and health emergencies. However, there remains a notable gap in the comprehensive exploration and application of these techniques, particularly in the context of monitoring and managing disease outbreaks. This study analyses and categorizes worldwide control chart applications from 2000 to 2023 in outbreak monitoring in over 20 countries, focusing on corona-virus (COVID-19), and chooses optimal control charts for monitoring US COVID-19 death waves from February 2020 to December 2023.

The growing demand for wearable and attachable displays has sparked significant interest in flexible quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). However, the challenges of fabricating and operating QLEDs on flexible substrates persist due to the lack of stable and low-temperature processable charge-injection/-transporting layers with aligned energy levels. In this study, we utilized NiO nanoparticles that are compatible with flexible substrates as a hole-injection layer (HIL).

Chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) is one of a major complication that affecting the long-term survival and living quality of patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, with the incidence of 30%-70%. Unlike acute GVHD, cGVHD involves a large number of immune cells and cytokines in addition to T cell, which is activated abnormally by the donor, and cytokine storms, which characterized by infiltration of donor lymphocytes and damage to host target organ. Recent studies have further made progress in targeting related immune cells and cytokines.
