A hospital and community-based violence intervention program for Black & Latino youth and their caregivers.

Background: Black and Latino youth are disproportionately affected by trauma from community violence, but to date, few data support the benefit of evidence-based treatments for these youth or of including peer support to engage these youth in mental health services.

Objective: From 2018 until 2020, a hospital and community-based violence intervention program in Philadelphia pilot tested the integration of home and community-based Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with peer services and case management for youth impacted by community violence. This study describes the implementation of this intervention.

S100B Serum Levels in Chronic Heart Failure Patients: A Multifaceted Biomarker Linking Cardiac and Cognitive Dysfunction.

Health and Health Care Among Transgender Adults in the United States.

Transgender (trans) communities in the USA and globally have long organized for health and social equity but have only recently gained increased visibility within public health. In this review, we synthesize evidence demonstrating that trans adults in the USA are affected by disparities in physical and mental health and in access to health care, relative to cisgender (nontrans) persons. We draw on theory and data to situate these disparities in their social contexts, explicating the roles of gender affirmation, multilevel and intersectional stigmas, and public policies in reproducing or ameliorating trans health disparities.

Systemic AA Amyloidosis Associated With Intravenous Injection of Oral Prescription Opioids-An Autopsy Case Report.

There are reports of AA amyloidosis associated with intravenous and/or subcutaneous injection of street drugs, such as heroin and cocaine. Most reports describe patients with substance use disorder, renal amyloidosis and concurrent viral infections, such as hepatitis and/or human immunodeficiency virus. Herein, we present a case of systemic AA amyloidosis and sepsis in a 34-year-old woman with a history of intravenous injection of oral prescription medications (as evidenced by excipient lung disease) who had no known history of human immunodeficiency virus nor of hepatitis B or C.

Overdose response among trained and untrained women with a history of illicit drug use: a mixed-methods examination.

Little is known about differences in bystander behavior among people who use drugs, trained and untrained in opioid overdose prevention. We examined three types of recommended overdose response - a 911 call, rescue breathing/CPR, and naloxone administration-among Philadelphia-based, predominantly street-involved women with a history of illicit drug use. The study utilized a convergent mixed methods approach integrating data from 186 quantitative survey responses and 38 semi-structured qualitative interviews.

Lidar-Camera Semi-Supervised Learning for Semantic Segmentation.

In this work, we investigated two issues: (1) How the fusion of lidar and camera data can improve semantic segmentation performance compared with the individual sensor modalities in a supervised learning context; and (2) How fusion can also be leveraged for semi-supervised learning in order to further improve performance and to adapt to new domains without requiring any additional labelled data. A comparative study was carried out by providing an experimental evaluation on networks trained in different setups using various scenarios from sunny days to rainy night scenes. The networks were tested for challenging, and less common, scenarios where cameras or lidars individually would not provide a reliable prediction.
