Strontium-90 plesiotherapy delivers high doses of radiation to superficial lesions (<3 mm depth) with excellent sparing of deeper tissues. The sealed-source applicator tip is circular and 8-10 mm in diameter. Larger treatment fields are treated with multiple overlapping fields.

After 1 year of treatment, there was a complete resolution of lymphadenopathy and disappearance of all somatostatin receptor avid lesions by positron emission tomography-CT and radiopharmaceutical Gallium Ga 68 Dotatate. Stability of disease was further demonstrated by CT over several years.

In this review, a systematic literature search on the effectiveness and complication rates of ultrasound-guided and magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (USg-/MRgHIFU) for abdominal wall endometriosis (AWE) was conducted in six databases in May/June 2023. Original articles of (non)randomized trials, cohort studies, case-control studies and case series published in peer-reviewed journals were included. Of the included studies the level of evidence (LoE) and methodological quality using the ROBINS-I and IHE-QAT was assessed.

However, as a full LCA was not feasible at this time, we evaluated the CO (carbon dioxide) emission from the MRI scanner, MR-HIFU device, and the medication used, and analyzed solid waste produced during treatment.
Methods: Our functional unit was one uterine fibroid MR-HIFU treatment.
The employment of light and/or electricity - alternatively to conventional thermal energy - unlocks new reactivity paradigms as tools for chemical substrate activations. This leads to the development of new synthetic reactions and a vast expansion of chemical spaces. This review summarizes recent developments in photo- and/or electrochemical activation strategies for the functionalization of strong bonds - particularly carbon-heteroatom (C-X) bonds - : (1) direct photoexcitation by high energy UV light; (2) activation photoredox catalysis under irradiation with relatively lower energy UVA or blue light; (3) electrochemical reduction; (4) combination of photocatalysis and electrochemistry.

Methods: We created an intelligent application, built within our electronic health record, that identified every living patient with an active outpatient prescription by a clinician in our health system.
Purpose: Limited data are available about the influence of KIT and PDGFRA mutations on overall survival (OS) of patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) treated with adjuvant imatinib.
Patients And Methods: The Scandinavian Sarcoma Group XVIII/AIO multicenter trial accrued 400 patients with a high risk for GIST recurrence after macroscopically complete surgery between February 4, 2004, and September 29, 2008. The patients received adjuvant imatinib 400 mg/day for either 1 year or 3 years based on random allocation.
Background: Platelets can infiltrate ischemic myocardium and are increasingly recognized as critical regulators of inflammatory processes during myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (I/R). Platelets contain a broad repertoire of microRNAs (miRNAs), which, under certain conditions such as myocardial ischemia, may be transferred to surrounding cells or released into the microenvironment. Recent studies could demonstrate that platelets contribute substantially to the circulating miRNA pool holding the potential for so far undiscovered regulatory functions.

Material And Methods: We performed a nationwide, cohort study of all maternal deaths between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2018 reported to the Audit Committee Maternal Mortality and Morbidity. Main outcome measures were the national MMR and causes of death.
Purpose: We investigated whether administration of the long-acting uterus stimulant carbetocin increased intra-subject sonication efficiency during Magnetic Resonance image guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (MR-HIFU) treatment of uterine fibroids.
Method: In this prospective cohort study, thirty women with symptomatic uterine fibroids undergoing MR-HIFU treatment were included between January 2018 and January 2019. Treatment started with three sonications on one side of the uterine fibroid.
Introduction: Obstetric hemorrhage-related deaths are rare in high income countries. Yet, with increasing incidences of obstetric hemorrhage in these countries, it is of utmost importance to learn lessons from each obstetric hemorrhage-related death to improve maternity care. Our objective was to calculate the obstetric hemorrhage-related maternal mortality ratio (MMR), assess causes of obstetric hemorrhage-related deaths, and identify lessons learned.

Reduced expression of or presence of the (serine replaced with asparagine) variant leads to epigenetic changes in human and murine AML blasts and accelerated the development of leukaemia in a murine model of human MDS and AML. We and other groups previously showed that the allele or reduced expression of GFI1 in human AML blasts is associated with an inferior prognosis.

During the implementation of a new technology, lessons are learned and an institutional learning-curve often has to be completed. The primary aim of our prospective cohort study was to characterize our learning-curve based on our clinical outcomes.

It is safe, effective, and has a very short recovery time. However, a lack of prospectively collected data on long-term (cost-)effectiveness of the MR-HIFU treatment compared with standard uterine fibroid care prevents the MR-HIFU treatment from being reimbursed for this indication.

However, this surgical fibroid removal has a long convalescence. Promising alternatives may be non-invasive High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) under either MRI (MR-HIFU) or ultrasound guidance (USgHIFU).

Neuropathological diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) are frequently associated with impaired differentiation of the oligodendroglial cell lineage and subsequent alterations in white matter structure and dynamics. Down syndrome (DS), or trisomy 21, is the most common genetic cause for cognitive impairments and intellectual disability (ID) and is associated with a reduction in the number of neurons and oligodendrocytes, as well as with hypomyelination and astrogliosis. Recent studies mainly focused on neuronal development in DS and underestimated the role of glial cells as pathogenic players.

Brain age-the estimated biological age of an individual brain-can be used to index developmental stage. In a longitudinal sample of adolescents (age 9-23 years), including monozygotic and dizygotic twins and their siblings, structural magnetic resonance imaging scans (N = 673) at 3 time points were acquired.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system with endometrial ablation in women with heavy menstrual bleeding.
HepaChip microplate (HepaChip-MP) is a microfluidic platform comprised of 24 independent culture chambers with continuous, unidirectional perfusion. In the HepaChip-MP, an automated dielectrophoresis process selectively assembles viable cells into elongated micro tissues. Freshly isolated primary human hepatocytes (PHH) and primary human liver endothelial cells (HuLEC) were successfully assembled as cocultures aiming to mimic the liver sinusoid.
