[Pattern of gonadotropins and ovarian steroids during the menstrual cycle in adolescence (author's transl)].

Serial determinations of FSH, LH, estradiol-17 beta and progesterone in plasma and of total gonadotropins, total estrogens and pregnanediol in urine were performed in 10 adolescent girls between 15 and 19 years of age. Two types of menstrual cycles could be distinguished. The first type is characterized by a nearly normal pattern of FSH, while a preovulatory rise of estradiol-17 beta and an LH-peak is still missing.

[Reaction of the rabbit brain to locally applied deep temperature (light- and electronmicroscopy findings)].

Investigations by light and electron microscopy showed more details of potential patterns of injuring after application of low temperatures to rabbit brain. The authors were actually concerned to transforming the intensity of cooling into exact and reproducible degrees of necrosis. According to these experimental results, the application of cryotechnique to human central nervous tissue is just permitted on special premises (size of probe, low-level of temperature, and period of application).

Pyschical crisis and pathological change do not differ at people in the older age. The two terms do not characterize the normal development of the old age, but extreme spheres are circumscribed. The cerebrovascular insufficience is a difficult diagnostic and therapeutic area, but it is accissible.

[Total reform of the Food Act. Health-related aspects].

Consumer-protection will be made stronger through reform of the laws concerning sale of such commodities as food, cosmetics and tobacco, which can be damaging to health. Important new developments have already been introduced in the areas of residue-control, additives, declared contents and advertisements, including those concerning the claimed benefits of healthfoods. There have been alterations in penalties for contraventions of these laws.

[Results of the Chiari pelvic osteotomy (author's transl)].

This is a report about 82 Chiari pelvic osteotomies, the functional and the x-ray results are demonstrated. On the x-rays of the hip the CE- und the ACM-angles were measured routinely. In opposite to satisfying results on the x-rays we did not find adequate functional results.

Calculation of O2 saturation and of the oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve for different species, using a new programmable pocket calculator.

The degree of O2 saturation and different data of acid-base status are determined from pO2, pH, and pCO2 values bya programmable pocket calculator. Since the operating program should be usable for different species and also in the range of very low O2 saturations, obviously the usual Hill equation for calculating the oxygen dissociation curve of hemoglobin is not applicable; the same is true is some cases for the Adair equation. Thus a 3-fold subdivision of the dissociation curve was undertaken and programmed.
