Pseudoplacentational endometrial hyperplasia (PEH) and cystic endometrial hyperplasia (CEH) are both hyperplastic conditions that may occur in the canine uterus during diestrus. CEH can impair fertility, and, although the consequences of PEH are poorly known, this condition is significantly associated with pyometra. The aim of this study was to investigate frequencies of both PEH and CEH in female dogs according to age, size, breed, and breed group.

Individuals with Down syndrome (DS) often present with severe periodontal disease at a young age. Adjuvant treatments to scaling and root planing (SRP), such as antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), may benefit this population. This study evaluated the effectiveness of aPDT as an adjunct to SRP in individuals with DS.

Despite those updates, a careful analysis of what applies to the reality in Brazil is essential, because there have been studies that evaluated individuals who are representative of our population and who could show responses different from those of individuals in other regions of the world. This document is the result of the work of a group of specialists in pulmonary function who evaluated relevant scientific articles that could be applicable to the population of Brazil.

However, there is a lack of research investigating the association between parents' vaccination readiness and their children's actual vaccine uptake. Addressing this gap, we examined how Danish parents' level of vaccination readiness is associated with their child's vaccination status combining survey with official registry data.

Women's health is related to several factors that include physical, mental, and reproductive health. Additionally, the vaginal microbiota modulation performs a fundamental role in the regulation of physiological homeostasis and dysbiosis, which provides us a potential overview of the use of different biotic agents and their implications for female health. The objective of this work was propitiated insights and conception about the influence of probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, and postbiotics as adjuvants for prevention/treatment on the main infections that can affect women's health.

The products were added with orange bagasse (additional calcium - Ca source) and buriti pulp (carotenoids source). Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) were used to analyze the volatile and non-volatile compounds metabolites from fermentation, respectively.

Background: Chronic low-grade inflammation in obesity is linked to white adipose tissue (WAT) dysfunction. Plasma lipopolysaccharide (LPS) activates Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), triggering NF-κB and worsening these disturbances. Previously, we showed that histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27) epigenetic modifications affect WAT gene expression in high-fat-diet mice, identifying key pathways in adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs).

This beverage is susceptible to contamination by acidic-tolerant microorganisms due to its low pH, especially filamentous fungi and yeasts. To minimize fungal spoilage, companies usually submit juice to thermal treatments; sanitizers are also applied on surfaces to maintain the microbiological quality.

The non-invasive detection of crack/cocaine and other bioactive compounds from its pyrolysis in saliva can provide an alternative for drug analysis in forensic toxicology. Therefore, a highly sensitive, fast, reagent-free, and sustainable approach with a non-invasive specimen is relevant in public health. In this animal model study, we evaluated the effects of exposure to smoke crack cocaine on salivary flow, salivary gland weight, and salivary composition using Attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy.

However, their standard size and weight limitations make integrating remote sensing optical instruments challenging. This work presents the development of Bentayga-I, a CubeSat designed to validate PANDORA, a self-made, lightweight, cost-effective multispectral camera with interchangeable spectral optical filters, in near-space conditions.

The paraprobiotics of BB (BBP) were obtained using ohmic heating (OH) under different conditions, and their effects on critical features of Salmonella, such as bacterial growth, biofilm formation, and adherence to Caco-2 cells, were studied.

Despite the lack of definitive markers for immunophenotyping MDSCs, particularly the polymorphonuclear (PMN-MDSC) subset, these cells seem to play a crucial role in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients' prognosis. Additionally, the maturation stage of MDSCs remains a subject of debate and is largely unknown within the AML context.

Assisted reproductive technology (ART) has been evolving since 1978, with the number of techniques performed increasing over the years. Despite continued advances, some couples continue to have difficulties getting pregnant, and it has recently been considered that the microbiome of the female genital tract (FGT) may influence embryo implantation and the establishment of pregnancy. This review aims to evaluate the role of probiotics on reproductive outcomes in infertile women on ART.

The physicochemical characterization of waters was also evaluated at the time of collection, and included the analysis of 40 different minerals, and quality parameters such as pH, conductivity, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity (PSU), and temperature (T). PSA survived in raw mineral water incubated at 12, 20, 23, and 30 °C; however, no growth was observed at 10 °C.

Traditional thermal methods, although effective against vegetative pathogens, can degrade important nutrients and are less effective at inactivating bacterial spores. High-pressure carbon dioxide (HPCD) technology has emerged as a promising non-thermal alternative, using CO under high pressure to inactivate spores and enzymes.

The adverse effects of peri-implantitis progression can go beyond just losing the implant. This highlights the importance of implementing strategies to stabilize disease in the short term.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFCH/π bonds are versatile elements for the construction of complex molecular architectures, thus playing key roles in many biomolecular recognition processes. Although seldom acknowledged, aromatic units are inherently bivalent and can participate in CH/π bonds through either face simultaneously, leading to the formation of stacking complexes. This sandwich-like arrangement is by far the most common in natural complexes and could potentially lead to negative cooperativity due to unfavorable polarization or electrostatic effects, especially when polarized CH fragments are involved.

Studies comparing patients with TA with or without active or latent TB infection (LTBI) have revealed some differences in clinical and angiographic profiles. Patient with TA and history of TB exhibited more constitutional symptoms and structural damage to the aorta.
