The free fibula flap is a common technique for mandibular bone defects. However, its limited skin paddle is disadvantageous in cases with significant soft-tissue defects. A free fibula dual-skin paddle flap is used for medium-sized soft-tissue defects.

Here, we report the discovery of biycycloborane, arising from the synthesis of borophane (hydrogen boride). Uniquely, this synthesis method involves a decomposition mechanism rather than traditional atom-by-atom assembly, marking an unique approach to constructing complex borane structures.

Planar-lens technologies, such as metasurfaces and diffractive optical elements, have gained attention in recent years for their potential to dramatically reduce the thickness of traditional refractive optical systems. However, their fabrication, particularly for visible wavelengths, involves complex and costly processes, such as high-resolution lithography and dry-etching, which has limited their availability.

Proton beam therapy (PBT) may reduce toxicities compared to photon therapy. This consensus statement summarizes PBT's safe and optimal delivery for pancreatic tumors.

The Golgi stress response is an important cytoprotective system that enhances Golgi function in response to cellular demand, while cells damaged by prolonged Golgi stress undergo cell death. OSW-1, a natural compound with anticancer activity, potently inhibits OSBP that transports cholesterol and phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate (PI4P) at contact sites between the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus. Previously, we reported that OSW-1 induces the Golgi stress response, resulting in Golgi stress-induced transcription and cell death.

However, it is difficult to evaluate whether the actual therapeutic effect is truly equivalent to that of photon radiotherapy. To compare photon radiotherapy and PBT, a meta-analysis and systematic review were performed.

This study aimed to determine if specific occupational behaviors could distinguish individuals with MDD from healthy individuals.
Methods: Baseline data were collected from medical records and activity programs.
Rationale: In people with Parkinson's disease (PD), quantitative assessment of activities inside and outside the home is crucial for planning effective rehabilitation tailored to a person's living conditions and characteristics.
Aims And Objectives: We examined the feasibility of combining a physical activity metre and a daily activity diary for people with PD.
Methods: Physical activity was evaluated using a triaxial accelerometer and recorded in a daily activity diary by the participant.
Background: This study aimed to investigate prognostic factors for predicting the survival of patients with extensive-disease-stage small-cell lung cancer treated with chemoimmunotherapy.
Methods: Patients were classified according to overall survival (OS): favorable corresponded to an OS ≥ 24 months, moderate corresponded to an OS of 6-24 months, and poor corresponded to an OS < 6 months. Multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to evaluate prognostic factors.
The forced expression system of MYOD1, a master gene for myogenic differentiation, can efficiently and rapidly reproduce muscle differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). Despite these advantages of the MYOD1 overexpression system, developed myotubes are relatively immature and do not recapitulate several aspects of striated muscle fibers. Here, we developed a simple optimized protocol using an alternative culture medium for maximizing the advantages of the MYOD1 overexpression system, and successfully improved the formation of multinucleated mature myotubes within 10 days.

Therefore, a novel therapeutic strategy is required to improve the efficacy of ICIs. We previously reported that histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors increased melanoma immunogenicity through the SOX10-IRF1 pathway and may improve the efficacy of ICIs for melanoma.

Considering that the motion tolerance has not yet been demonstrated, this study aimed to determine the tolerance level for the amount of target motion. Dose distributions considering motion were simulated for a numerical water phantom using in-house software.

Methods: ChatGPT's performance was assessed using 1399 (55% of the exam) of 2520 questions from the Japanese National Dental Examinations (111-117).
Biological applications of sumanene buckybowl molecule have been widely discussed over the years yet remain still unexplored experimentally. On the other hand, creating cyclodextrin-containing supramolecular assemblies was demonstrated to be a powerful tool in terms of designing effective systems for medicinal chemistry purposes. Here, we show that sumanene molecule exclusively forms 1:1 host-guest complexes with γ-cyclodextrin (γCD) or (2-hydroxypropyl)-γ-cyclodextrin (HP-γCD), as revealed by extensive spectroscopic studies supported with density functional theory (DFT) computations.

However, the direct association between the different KoRV subtypes and carcinogenesis remains unknown. Differentially expressed gene (DEG) analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of koalas carrying both endogenous (KoRV-A) and exogenous (KoRV-A, B, and C) subtypes was performed using a high-throughput RNA-seq approach.

Hydrogen boride (HB) sheets are emerging as a promising two-dimensional (2D) boron material, with potential applications as unique electrodes, substrates, and hydrogen storage materials. The 2D layered structure of HB was successfully synthesized using an ion-exchange method. The chemical bonding and structure of the HB sheets were investigated using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), respectively.
