Background: The longitudinal effects of educational interventions in people with abdominal aortic aneurysm are largely unexplored. This prospective study investigated whether the anxiety-lowering effect of an eHealth intervention observed at the 1-month follow-up is maintained 1 year after abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery.
Methods: Those scheduled for surgical repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm were recruited in a single-centre randomized clinical trial.
Background: Breastfeeding has numerous health benefits but social inequality in breastfeeding is documented in many high-income countries. The evidence for improving breastfeeding support through prenatal encounters is conflicting, but points towards a mechanism activated through a positive relationship between the families and their health care providers. A Danish intervention included a home visit by a health visitor during pregnancy to prolong breastfeeding and reduce social inequality in its rates.

Background: Little is known about the involvement of gut microbiota in the disease course of diverticulitis and the potential benefits of manipulating the gut milieu. We propose to conduct a randomised placebo-controlled feasibility trial of faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) given as capsules to patients with acute uncomplicated diverticulitis.
Objectives: The objective is primarily to investigate the feasibility of clinical safety, explore efficacy associated with FMT in this patient population, and examine changes in patient-reported quality of life and the composition and function of the gut microbiota.

Methods: A Swedish prospective multicenter study of 440 women undergoing benign hysterectomy was conducted between October 2011 and March 2017. Background: Two risk factors for severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in extremely preterm infants are thrombocytopenia and low levels of arachidonic acid (AA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). To date, these risk factors have not been linked.
Method: Infants born < 28 weeks gestational age (GA) from 2016 to 2019 were randomized to postnatal enteral AA/DHA supplementation or standard care (controls).

We used adaptive long-read sequencing to decipher the pathogenic expansion in the index Utah family and an unrelated family from Iowa of Swedish ancestry. Methods: By applying multiomics mRNA, microRNA (miRNA), and DNA methylation platforms in biopsies from 20 monozygotic twin pairs discordant for T2D, we aimed to delineate the epigenetic and transcriptional machinery underlying non-genetic muscle insulin resistance in T2D.
Results: Using gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), we found decreased mRNA expression of genes involved in extracellular matrix organization, branched-chain amino acid catabolism, metabolism of vitamins and cofactors, lipid metabolism, muscle contraction, signaling by receptor tyrosine kinases pathways, and translocation of glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) to the plasma membrane in muscle from twins with T2D.

Introduction: The aim of the study is to estimate the association between bar density and nighttime emergency calls to the police.
Methods: We used a pooled cross-sectional time-series data set covering the Swedish 290 municipalities spanning the time period 2012-2021. As outcome we used nighttime emergency calls to the police and daytime emergency calls to the police as control variable.
Different types of deposits comprised of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides are one of the pathological hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and novel methods that enable identification of a diversity of Aβ deposits during the AD continuum are essential for understanding the role of these aggregates during the pathogenesis. Herein, different combinations of five fluorescent thiophene-based ligands were used for detection of Aβ deposits in brain tissue sections from transgenic mouse models with aggregated Aβ pathology, as well as brain tissue sections from patients affected by sporadic or dominantly inherited AD. When analyzing the sections with fluorescence microscopy, distinct ligand staining patterns related to the transgenic mouse model or to the age of the mice were observed.
