Betulinic acid [3beta-hydroxy-lup-20(19)lupaen-28-carbonic acid], a lupane-type triterpene which is abundant in many plant species, has been shown to exert a direct effect on the mitochondria and subsequent apoptosis in melanoma cells. Chemical synthesis and modification of betulinic acid are being explored to develop more potent derivatives.

Researchers have previously used the interaction of organic-inorganic (OI) species that are present during the nucleation of the composite phase, and several synthesis pathways, such as direct surfactant-inorganic interaction (S+I-, S-I+, S0I0) and mediated interaction (S+X-I+, S-X+I-), have been proposed. Here we describe a new perspective in which the self-adjusted inorganic-inorganic (II) interplay between two or more inorganic precursors is guided by acid-base chemistry considerations, and in this simple way we produce an overall 'framework' for the sophisticated combination of synergic inorganic acid-base precursor pairs.

Methods: Twelve adult mongrel dogs were randomly divided into two groups.
Aim: To develop an acute tolerant model in describing relationship between diltiazem (Dil) concentrations in plasma and PR intervals on ECG in men.
Method: Both plasma concentrations of Dil and changes of ECG were simultaneously determined after po Dil 90 mg in 8 men.
Results: A two-compartmental pharmacokinetic model with first-order input gave a good fitting for the plasma concentration of Dil.
