Compared to conventional nanocarrier-based drug delivery technology, small-molecule-assembled nanomaterials provide various advantages, including higher drug loading efficiency, lower excipient-related toxicity, and a simpler formulation process. Our research constructed a mannonse-modified small-molecule-assembled nanodrug for synergistic photodynamic/chemotherapy against A549 cancer cells. The hydrophobic hypoxic-activated agent tirapazamine (TPZ) and a hydrophilic fluorescence probe Cyanine 3 (Cy3) constitute this amphiphilic prodrug via a glutathione (GSH)-responsive linkage, which could self-assemble into stable nanoparticles (NPs) and encapsulate a newly synthesized photosensitizer (SeBDP).

The aim of this study was to explore the effects of twin-screw extrusion combined with exogenous protein on interaction between starch and protein of the compound potato powder thereby contributing to better structural characterization and functional properties of whole potato flour lack of gluten. The results showed that the heat-moisture extrusion increased the relative crystallinity of starch. Meanwhile, the exogenous protein introduced (-SH) under the action of extrusion to form (-S-S-) in the compound system and furtherly promoted the construction of the network structure of the protein.

The digestibility of starch in staple foods has rarely been examined at the bio-macromolecular level. This study addresses this by investigating the fine structures of amylose and amylopectin to understand their roles in starch digestibility in cooked white rice. Dietary fibers with excellent processing characteristics and water-holding capacity garnered significant attention in low-fat fried products manufacturing, but further research is lacking to elucidate fat reduction mechanisms. Three dietary fibers were added to the batter of fried batter-breaded fish nuggets, the increased maximum wavelength, fluorescence intensity, surface hydrophobicity value, and S-S/free-SH ratio revealed the enhanced exposure and interaction of hydrophobic groups within gluten. Conversion from both -SH into S-S bonds, and α-helix into β-turn confirmed the establishment of the gluten gel network and a substantially increased gel strength.

Combination approaches are needed to strengthen and extend the clinical response to KRAS inhibitors (KRASi). Here, we assessed the antitumor responses of KRAS mutant lung and colorectal cancer models to combination treatment with a SOS1 inhibitor (SOS1i), BI-3406, plus the KRAS inhibitor, adagrasib. We found that responses to BI-3406 plus adagrasib were stronger than to adagrasib alone, comparable to adagrasib with SHP2 (SHP2i) or EGFR inhibitors and correlated with stronger suppression of RAS-MAPK signaling.

Vaccine adjuvants increase the breadth of serum antibody responses, but whether this is due to the generation of antigen-specific B cell clones with distinct specificities or the maturation of memory B cell clones that produce broadly cross-reactive antibodies is unknown. Here, we longitudinally analyzed immune responses in healthy adults after two-dose vaccination with either a virus-like particle COVID-19 vaccine (CoVLP), CoVLP adjuvanted with AS03 (CoVLP+AS03), or a messenger RNA vaccination (mRNA-1273). CoVLP+AS03 enhanced the magnitude and durability of circulating antibodies and antigen-specific CD4 T cell and memory B cell responses.
