Purpose: Dobutamine, a sympathomimetic agent, is widely used clinically, influencing cardiac output, heart rate (HR), and blood pressure (BP), which may impact cerebral blood flow (CBF), critical for brain metabolism. However, the effects of dobutamine on CBF and internal carotid artery (ICA) blood flow remain unclear, with contradictory reported in both clinical and animal studies. It is necessary to investigate the effects of dobutamine on cervical and cerebral hemodynamics.

Background: Xalnesiran, a small interfering RNA molecule that targets a conserved region of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) genome and silences multiple HBV transcripts, may have efficacy, with or without an immunomodulator, in patients with chronic HBV infection.

Methods: We conducted a phase 2, multicenter, randomized, controlled, adaptive, open-label platform trial that included the evaluation of 48 weeks of treatment with xalnesiran at a dose of 100 mg (group 1), xalnesiran at a dose of 200 mg (group 2), xalnesiran at a dose of 200 mg plus 150 mg of ruzotolimod (group 3), xalnesiran at a dose of 200 mg plus 180 μg of pegylated interferon alfa-2a (group 4), or a nucleoside or nucleotide analogue (NA) alone (group 5) in participants with chronic HBV infection who had virologic suppression with NA therapy. The primary efficacy end point was hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss (HBsAg level, <0.

Chromosome instability is a prevalent vulnerability of cancer cells that has yet to be fully exploited therapeutically. To identify genes uniquely essential to chromosomally unstable cells, we mined the Cancer Dependency Map for genes essential in tumor cells with high levels of copy number aberrations. We identify and validate KIF18A, a mitotic kinesin, as a vulnerability of chromosomally unstable cancer cells.

CD73, an ectoenzyme responsible for adenosine production, is often elevated in immuno-suppressive tumor environments. Inhibition of CD73 activity holds great promise as a therapeutic strategy for CD73-expressing cancers. In this study, we have developed a therapeutic anti-human CD73 antibody cocktail, HB0045.

Introduction: COVID-19 has increased parental stress and significantly impacted the psychological well-being of individuals, especially parents of school-age children. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy posits that individuals can accept their unchangeable inner experiences (thoughts and feelings) while acting in ways aligned with their personal values, demonstrating effectiveness in reducing stress and improving psychological well-being, especially among parents of children with chronic illness. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of a group-based ACT, delivered flexibly, in improving stress and psychological well-being in parents with school-age children, regardless of their children's chronic conditions, within a real-world context.

Late expression factor 3 (LEF3), a multifunctional single-stranded DNA binding protein encoded by baculoviruses, is indispensable for viral DNA replication and plays a pivotal role in viral infection. Our previous quantitative analysis of phosphorylomics revealed that the phosphorylation levels of two serine residues (S8 and S25) located in LEF3 nuclear localization sequence were significantly up-regulated after Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) infection, but the underlying mechanism remained unknown. To investigate the impact of phosphorylation on BmNPV infection, site-direct mutagenesis was performed on LEF3 to obtain phosphorylated mimic (S/D) or dephosphorylated mimic (S/A) mutants.

The development of catalysts with high activity and selectivity for the electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) remains crucial. Molybdenum carbide (MoC) shows promise as an electrocatalyst for NRR but faces challenges due to the difficulty of N adsorption and activation as well as the competitive hydrogen evolution reaction. In this study, we propose a strategy of combining TiO with MoC to form heterostructure catalysts.

Producing hydrogen through water electrolysis represents a clean and sustainable solution that is crucial in addressing the energy crisis. Nonetheless, the slow process of water electrolysis leads to large different kinetics for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) under different pH solutions. Here, we designed surface modified metallic X-Cu catalysts (X = F, Cl, Br) with different non-metallic elements on nickel foam (NF) using an electrochemical deposition method, which realizes high performance for all-pH range.

Background: Minimally invasive surgeries are increasingly central to modern medicine, particularly in liver transplantation. These techniques, which offer reduced trauma, precise operations, minimal bleeding, and swift recovery, are, however, unevenly adopted across China. Only a limited number of centers routinely perform minimally invasive donor hepatectomies, indicating a significant imbalance in the development and application of these advanced procedures.

  • The study aimed to explore the genetic adaptation of mosquito populations in Jining City, Shandong Province, to different environmental conditions, providing insights into their population structure and isolation patterns.
  • Researchers collected mosquitoes from various urban, suburban, and rural sites, extracted their DNA, and analyzed genetic diversity using various statistical and bioinformatics tools.
  • A total of 420 gene sequences were amplified, revealing 46 haplotypes, with a notable increase in haplotype frequency as the sampling area transitioned from urban to rural, indicating higher genetic diversity in suburban areas.

  • The study investigates a zoonotic parasite prevalent in East Asia by analyzing genetic variation using mitochondrial and ribosomal DNA sequences.
  • It identified distinct haplotypes across different regions, revealing that these haplotypes do not cluster by country, indicating genetic diversity.
  • The findings suggest the parasite's population is increasing with low genetic variation, providing insights for future disease control and epidemiology.

  • Coagulation factor XI (FXI) inhibitors show potential as new anticoagulants but may worsen heart failure and diastolic dysfunction according to an animal study.
  • In the ARIC study, involving 4,471 older participants, researchers found that lower plasma FXI levels were linked to a higher incidence of heart failure over a median follow-up of 9 years, especially in those aged 75 and older.
  • The study also noted that while lower FXI levels were associated with increased prevalence of diastolic dysfunction, they correlated with a higher likelihood of atrial fibrillation at the baseline, but not with new cases of atrial fibrillation during the follow-up.

Grazing livestock in grasslands face the challenge of obtaining sufficient nutrition due to uneven distribution of plant species and fluctuating vegetation productivity and nutrient levels. In northern China, and are the dominant perennial species in native grasslands, but they provide limited nutrition compared to forbs with higher crude protein (CP) content. While dietary ingredients can affect the nutritional intake of grazing livestock, the influence of different grazing strategies on dietary selection remains unclear.
